here along coyote creek in san jose, bob redell nbc, bay area news. bob. thank you.yes on the federal reserve and an anticipated interest rate cut this week. that cut is expected despite inflation starting to rise again. this after a steady but slow drop over the past two years. now, this will be the fed's final policy meeting of the year. and if they go through with a rate cut, it will be the third cut this year. now the fed they want to the inflation to get under 2%. recently it's been stuck around 3%. however, if inflation does come down economists warn that prices could rise, especially if incoming president donald trump follows through with those threats on tariffs. he's promising tariffs on all imports, but especially those coming from china and mexico. and economist economics professor that we spoke with earlier this morning says that california would take the hit if the tariffs on mexican imports increases. we are the one who are going to bear the brunt of that import. and of course china. a lot of china's traffic comes through the ports of california, and th

rains could already start to saturate the soil start to make the creeks rise.nd there's real concern about some of the rivers monday and tuesday will be the strongest and wettest of the days. but the concern to the rivers, especially for the north bay. well, the main stem rivers probably okay, but some of the other rivers such as the russian river guernville could reach the minor flood stage. 34 1% chance of that. some of the other creeks and streams also definitely worth watching monday tuesday, the strongest storms across the bay area. and then there is the fresh snow in the sierra nevada. so we're looking at rain. how much rain quite a bit in the north bay. that's the greatest amount would be close to 5 inches in some of the north bay mountains. so not a whole lot this weekend, but the most again in the north bay as we go through time. also snow in the sierra nevada. so it's going to be very beautiful, but we'll certainly have the snow temperature wise. we're going to the upper 50's to the 60's mid pretty much everywhere from san francisco to the coastline h

a law that just running right down into the streams and creeks now. so a flood warning remains in effect ross much of the north bay from windsor all the way down. sebastien pole santa rosa and further south as to rohnert park as we're seeing some of creeks and streams, their rise above flood stage. in fact, a moderate flooding that currently taking place right noin green valley creek. they're just under 64 feet. i was checking the gauge are just now looks like it is benninto recede unless we really watch that rain pick up. it should continue to recede. also further south colgan creek is experncin some minor flooding just over 75 feet. they are also expected to recede overnight tonight. but we've got more storms on the way this weekend and those rivers and creeks are going to rise again. we'll talk more about that coming up in a few minutes. >> thanks, lawrence. now to an update on that mess in santa cruz where the wharf collapsed on monday after be a bunch of big swells kept slamming into the structure. it actually caused 3 city workers there to fall

colgan creek near sebastopol reported moderate flooding today. so that is a concern. but that warning expires 2.30, this afternoon. a high surf advisory is in effect and this is pushing big breakers right across across water's edge. 20 to 30 foot waves. and that is a concern for coastal erosion. beach erosion and you don't want to be on the beaches at that point because those waves could just come out of nowhere. sneaker waves could come and hit the jetties on the rocks and even the pairs. so you don't want to go there in terms of where we go from here. here's the forecast model. we start out with some rain and then we cleared out a little bit only to get replaced again by some more rain overnight tonight into tomorrow. and again, more rain heading in our direction and will shut its gone. sunday night. looks dry. and that is the beginning of a drying trend. a ridge builds in. you can see the clockwise circulation and that is a like a big mountain that keeps the storms from heading toward us. instead is a start to try to head toward deflecting, go right up to our north

creek since james have risen and with all the rain from last night, it really put it over the edge. so cold colgan creek near sebastopol that's actually hit the flood of flood stage, medium flood stage. so that's a problem there. but if you drive around the areas where low lying areas of poor drainage areas near all the creeks and streams, you could see some flooding. so be careful. the roads are not only slick, but there could be some flooding that you would encounter as well. that warning expires today at to 30 in the afternoon. right along the water's edge. it's a high surf advisory 20 to 30 foot waves, not as big as we saw earlier this week, but still very dangerous conditions at the water's edge beach erosion quite possible. and it's it's very dangerous to be walking on the beach or certainly dangerous to be swimming or surfing. in the meantime, here's a forecast model. it shows again a few more rounds of rain for us and snow in the sierra nevada. and then a ridge builds in. so we're in for some dry weather coming in say monday into tuesday. s the end of 2024. looks on the dry

already colgan creek. flooding. so there's a problem there and also the low lying area, bad drainage. that's where you're going to be concerned about the flooding. in the meantime, if you flee to the surf, well, you fleet of us are up. you go to the coastline, 20 to 30 foot waves and those waves are crashing against the coastline and causing some beach erosion. you don't want to be there because those wheat waves could come unexpectedly and sweep right across the beaches and the rocks and the jetties. it has been windy this morning, especially right along the coastline baudette bay. now, 23 mile per hour gusts nevado 18, 14 in napa. so this is the strongest winds were going to see so far today. and then guy down, as you see, we go through the daytime and most wednesday around 12 miles per hour or less user. nice. see breeze is coming in being a beautiful air-quality for us temperatures right now mainly in the 50's to low 60's. and you know, this afternoon, these numbers going to budge a whole lot. it will
