now as we head through tonight, 8:00 could get a spotty shower up towards guerneville, but we'll really need to wait till about 1130 for marin, napa, sonoma counties to see that rain come in and then check this out overnight. this kind of rainfall will likely wake you up. we could see wind gusts 15 to 40mph with this strong line of rain from the north bay down to the south bay. that's at 3 a.m. and then by the morning commute, we're basically left with some scattered areas of rain that would continue through the day. now what? i also wanted to get into this update tonight at least this early look at weather is. then we head into friday. an atmospheric river will then be quickly developing behind that system and it still eventually on track here to hit us on saturday. so with all that said, i think overall the worst is going to be on saturday with our atmospheric river. we'll need to watch the small creeks, streams and rivers and some on and off wind gusts here at times 15 to 50mph. i've got full look at the full looks at the rain totals and where we'll see over two inches plus sierra sn

get up towards santa rosa and guerneville, about a quarter to a half inch. let's add on sunday, monday and tuesday of next week. and sure, the totals are going to add up, but it's going to be spread out over three different days. so down here in the south bay, we'd be right around an inch, an inch and a quarter in san francisco. and then for the north bay, an inch and a half to maybe just over three inches in guerneville. so right now, guerneville, santa rosa would be in the bull's eye of some of the heaviest rainfall. i think everyone else here across the bay area certainly going to be able to manage with that. and if you're going up towards the sierra, we'll see that snow stack up as well from the 21st into the 24th, we'd see an additional 1 to 2ft there up across the highest elevations. so going to be plenty of snow to go skiing on if you're one of the lucky ones and headed up there for christmas on that 7-day forecast, you'll see it right here. the rain returning on saturday, spotty chance on sunday, and better chances monday and tuesday with a quarter t

we'd be anywhere from one to just over two inches up towards guerneville, so we should be able to handle this without any major problems, just because those rain totals are spread out over a couple of days. as we started off for tomorrow morning, temperatures here in the 50s across the bay area, so not quite as cold because of the cloud cover that's in place. 50 here in the east bay and also some low 50s in the north bay. daytime highs 57 here in santa rosa need the jacket all day long. double fives in martinez down to san jose 62. and i got you at 58 in san francisco. sierra snow. just a couple of inches. as we head through this weekend. we'll likely see some of the heaviest snow once we hit next tuesday, a foot or more expected across the higher elevations. okay, speaking of snow, i want to get a check from the big guy out there at the north pole. and look, he has to practice just like everybody else right now. he is joining us from his training facility at the north pole. he's got these rooftops. he can climb up and down and make sure he's good to go. he's got maximum agility and spee

got some rain up towards guerneville. we'd be into some widespread rain.in, napa, sonoma counties by 1130 and then watch out. by the time we hit 3:00 in the morning, santa rosa to san jose will get into some heavier downpours. i think this could wake a lot of us up. we'd see some wind gusts 20 to maybe about 40mph. then this gets out of here quickly. for the bulk of tomorrow morning's commute, we're going to see some sun, some clouds, and the chance here of some spotty rain. we'd hang on to some spotty showers here as we head through tomorrow afternoon and evening, but quickly behind that is the second storm. this will be developing through the day on friday with this atmospheric river, and then this will really position itself to hit the entire bay area as we head through saturday morning. so rainfall totals on this one, you guys on thursday, we're only looking at about a half inch on average throughout the bay area. so that's where that storm tomorrow. then as we head into saturday, we'll get anywhere from one to about 2.5in in the north bay. i think the

guerneville. looking at the reds here and oranges also towards santa rosa, where they just lifted that flood advisory yesterday. so more rain coming today, but it's not going to last long. we're looking at this level one, bringing anywhere from a quarter of an inch to three quarters of an inch in the north bay. breezy winds along the coast and a lingering chance in the afternoon so you can notice that the rainfall picks up after 7:00. and then after 11:00 this morning, it really begins to diminish. and that will be in the south bay 44, in oakland with the cloud cover, 45 in sonoma. so with the clouds, we're 4 to 9 degrees milder this morning. there's fog as well. visibility reduced from concord at three quarters of a mile. livermore just a quarter of a mile. and here's the plan for today. then this morning, north bay rain getting to 8:00. the front sinks to the south, san francisco, oakland and concord. and then as we get towards about 1030, we're on the peninsula, the south bay with the rain show

up towards guerneville right around santa rosa. this is nothing compared to the storm system we had last weekend when we did get those tornado warnings. we're not expecting anything close to that at all. you'll see by 8:00 in the morning it's scattered rainfall. then as we head through 10 a.m, it's a little bit more here up towards marin, napa, sonoma counties. not a whole lot left here by 1 p.m, i think we'd still be under some scattered rain chances into about 7 p.m. then after that, we would start to see things beginning to clear out. tomorrow night, if you have a holiday party to go to tomorrow evening, i think you'll be okay. as we head into sunday, we'll get more scattered rain chances that gets out of here pretty quickly by 10 a.m. on sunday, and then we'll see some additional rain chances here by sunday night. so just some on and off rain this weekend. i don't think it's going to ruin your entire weekend. if you still have stuff to do, i think you're going to be able to get that done. then as we head through monday, just a

guerneville road. seeing a little bit of heavier rain as we time it out for you. this will continue. and then late tonight, notice the rainfall intensity picking up as that level two storm moves in. expect downpours at midnight. we're going to see the potential for thunderstorms going into tomorrow morning. between midnight and about 9 a.m. i would stay off the roads. we have a flood watch for the north bay flood warnings for the russian river at hopland and the navarro river at navarro. this is going through sunday afternoon. rivers, streams, creeks expecting flooding those two rivers. minor flooding is expected, but the smaller streams and creeks will see rapid rises. we have high wind warnings for the areas shaded in pink. advisories for the rest of the region. strong winds 50 to 60 mile an hour. wind gusts, possibly higher, will take down trees and power lines. it's already gusty in the hills and the lower elevations are starting to see the winds pick up 26 right now. the winds will get even stronger over 50 miles an hour tomorrow morn. it is a level one this

our observer, eric there, 0.68 guerneville, near guerneville, 0.67.r totals, though. they're all north, no doubt about it. santa rosa airport, 0.5 two half inch petrified forest, point reyes, bodega bay, saint helena, 43/100. petaluma and sonoma, 0.40 and napa, 0.28. northern novato, 0.27. that 0.52 in santa rosa has now pushed their seasonal total since july 1st to 20 and 81/100 almost 21in of rain, 240% of average. yet you go south and east, you'll find areas that are below average. it's just been that kind of a season and i really don't see it changing all that much. the system is kind of moving south slowly. so again, solano county, napa county, sonoma, mendocino. looks like mendocino is on the backside of it. so it looks like it will start to move in toward san francisco, oakland here in areas east over the next i'd say hour or two. but this is all about areas to the north for now. and that's where the highlights are right there napa, san rafael, san francisco, oakland north far less to the south. it should get a little bit out there. tracy half

we're going to take you in to street level radar around guerneville casadero highway. it is a little wet, but this is not even the storm yet. this is just moisture ahead of the storm. the storm is still off the coastline. that's the same storm that is kicking up the swells. and that caused part of the wharf to wash away there in santa cruz. as we look here along the north coast, we are seeing some pockets of moderate rain right now. even heavier rain is coming tonight. it's a light level one scattered light showers, areas of low visibility with that fog and dangerous surf. as we head into tomorrow, it becomes a moderate strength storm. a two downpours, gusty winds, slight chance of thunder. life threatening surf continues. so as we look at our rain chances, they're ramping up going into the morning hours around the time that many of you may be hitting the road to get out of town or commute. so watch out 3:00 in the morning. we're seeing some downpours here. 5:00 it is pretty widespread with some heavy rain going through, and at 10 a.m. we are still seeing those showers

mill valley, napa, up towards santa rosa, just these ballpark figures to give you an idea, guernevilleld be up over three inches right now. we're not anticipating widespread flooding, but we certainly could see some localized flooding where the drains can't keep up. san francisco southward will be anywhere from one to about 1.25in. now, besides the rainfall, we'll also see winds gusting up with this as we head into saturday's forecast. with the worst of this weather 15 to about 40mph. here's the other thing. king tides are going to be happening at the same time. those are the highest to high tides. we might get some localized flooding right near the coast in the bay where we always see a little water go higher when we're under those king tides. and then heavy sierra snow from thursday into sunday, we could see totals anywhere from one to about two feet at the highest elevations. kingvale 22 south tahoe 12. kirkwood 18. blue canyon coming in with 12in. and that's going to add to the snowpack. we're doing really good right now. anywhere from 100 to 170% of normal for a lot of the sierra.
