so i was giving a talk up in newburyport, massachusetts, and there was a woman sitting in the front row right before i began my talk, and she was with the friends of plum island lighthouse, and she said, do you talk about plum island lighthouse in your book? and i said, no. and then she said, well, i'm not going to buy your book then. so i said, okay. and i had to explain to her that there's, you know, you have to pick and choose. i had the same problem with my first trade book. you know, i didn't include favorite mountain man or my whaling boy did i get grief. i only have a page and a half and my whaling book about new london and only a page about sag harbor and i spoke in both places and they have a very proud whaling history. their entire books written about whaling from both of those ports. but i had to tell the story i wanted to sell and i don't want to even broach the topic of what they the grief gave me in cold spring harbor. i actually got an email about it the other day. i have three sentences in my book about cold spring harbor, which sent out a bunch of whale ships and a woma
