meteorologist sandyha patel is here. sandy. >> yeah. and, dan, let's talk about that earthquake.he 7.0 off the mendocino coast earlier this morning. the timeline of it all at 1044, that earthquake struck at 1049. a tsunami warning was issued for the west coast, which included the bay area and california. obviously, at 1154, the warning was canceled. now, keep in mind, this was a strike slip earthquake, which means the plates were moving horizontally, which did lessen the probability of a tsunami for us. but until they can clear it, they obviously had to keep that up. the tsunami warning center, that 7.0 earthquake was a depth of six miles. once they discovered initially they thought it was vertically moving plates and that has a higher probability of tsunamis. but once they found out it was horizontally moving and they were able to examine whether there were any tsunamis, they did drop that warning. but always take a warning seriously. here are the fault lines in california. the san andreas runs all the way northward. there are two other plates that converge in this highly seismi

meteorologist sandyha patel has more on the numbers here. sandhya. >> yeah, kristen. continue to see aftershocks following that major 7.0 earthquake. the depth was 0.6 miles at 1044. this morning off the humboldt county coast. as you just mentioned. look at the dozens of aftershocks, 65, to be precise. maximum magnitude following the seven was a 5.0. now we also saw this morning some earthquakes right around the lake county area. so when i query this data here, you will see that there were multiple reports. 4.0 was a maximum magnitude. now with that 7.0 earthquake, the strongest shaking was felt right near the epicenter. as you can see on the shake intensity map. but that earthquake was felt across northern california all the way down towards the monterey bay, and even points southward as we look at a closer view, not as strong, it was weak to light, but it was felt. now let's talk about the san andreas fault, the northern periphery stretches all the way out towards where this earthquake occurred. initially. i do want to explain something. that tsunami warning was iss

meteorologist sandyha patel is here. i like what we had today, particularly sandy. >> yeah, it was really nice today. i mean, there was some sun out. dan and j.r, good evening to all of you. we also had some fog, so kind of catering to everybody, but we unfortunately have the haze as well. here's a live view from our sky star camera. this is a cool view so unique from fisherman's wharf. nothing quite like it. this is on the sky star wheel and you can certainly see it's kind of a murky view, as we have not only the haze, but some fog out there as well. looking at live doppler seven right now, there is a system passing to our north. it's just giving us some cloud cover. fog continues to linger out towards the delta. you can see that the wind flow is keeping that fog right there, locked in that tule fog that the central valley typically deals with. looking at the wider perspective, we're going to clean out some of the fog and also the air quality, but not immediately. we're going to have to wait until the weekend as this sy

let's check in with meteorologist sandyha patel. hey, sandy. hi, there. >> yeah. and kristen and larry. that's exactly right. we are in a lull right now, but keep those umbrellas close by. let me show you some live pictures from our tower cameras. we're even seeing a little bit of sun from emeryville and exploratorium. as you will notice, a lot of cloud cover on live doppler seven. we did have that rain earlier in the day, and it came down pretty hard, to the point where there are some parts that are still dealing with some flooding concerns. we'll talk about that in just a moment. but that's sonoma county that has a flood warning going for small stream flooding. temperatures right around 5:00 will be in the 50s and 60s. it is still going to be mild at 715, dropping to the 50s. 10 p.m. you see an isolated shower popping up, and then those showers will start to move back into the north bay at 6:00 tomorrow morning, and will be scattered at 10:00 tomorrow morning, with highs in the 50s and the 60s today through sunday, we'll call it a level one. spotty shows through
