we do expect some more delays caused by the weather over the weekend on the west coast, san francisco, portland, and seattle are all cities to keep an eye on. people traveling out of there, on the other side of the country, new orleans, also some storms that are affecting that area and the gulf coast. moving up the east coast, atlanta, charlotte, d.c., philly, new york, and boston, and then of course, chicago. a lot of the big cities, those big hub cities like chicago, atlanta, new york city, being affected by the weather or expected to be affected as the number of travelers expected to be screened by tsa picks up in the next few days. tsa was expecting to screen about 4 million passengers throughout the holidays. 3 million of those passing through mia, miami international airport here, where as you mentioned things have not been as busy as other airports. we have gotten reports today that atlanta is one of the busiest airports. it's one of the busiest as it is, even when it's not the holiday. something for travelers to keep in mind, that map showing the cities that could be expecting delays as we go into t

west coast looking? because a lot of the travel that we're going to see are people traveling to los angeles or up to seattle or portland, a lot of that west coast travel. how is that looking at this hour? >> yeah, so that's really the sector that is seeing that residual delays from the earlier low clouds and fog. and you're right, about 30% of all of our flying is between here and the los angeles basin. a lot of times when we do see delays, it is impacting those short haul flights along the west coast, just by nature of the fact that there's so much more frequency on those markets. the good news is airlines are starting to make up some of the time. earlier today we were seeing delays averaging 45 to 60 minutes. that's now down to 25 30 minutes. so they are managing to shave that off and get back to on time. >> all right. that's good to hear that. there is a recovery underway at sfo after some delays earlier in the day. obviously still a busy, busy week ahead here for all of you, doug yakel from sfo. we appreciate the time. happy holidays. >> same to you. thank you. >> all right. coming up this afternoon her

west coast. we'll continue with some rain and snow from seattle down towards portland and san francisco as well. the storm that we're watching across the south will continue to pump some strong and severe storms that will be possible. right now, we don't have too much in the way of watches. a lot of these storms have kind of degraded on the overnight, but by tomorrow we're really worried about this outbreak of severe weather. that's likely we have a level three out of five, enhanced risk of severe weather there in that bullseye from louisiana into mississippi. and then it switches east as we go into sunday. you can see that bullseye across the southeast from charlotte down towards the florida gulf coast. now we're looking at that threat for tornadoes could be on the stronger side. we're talking about ef2 or greater possible. it is december, right. so we don't usually talk about tornadoes, let alone tornadoes. this strong in december. when we're talking about, you know, tornadoes in december, it's not impossible. it is on the more rare side. but if you're going to get them, they are most likely a

west coast. now that we've got 50's 60's from seattle on down to la.now. you can see where some of these clippers are rolling in. we've got a little bit of a system in the northeast with that cold air. and then of course, we've got a little bit of rain kind of happening up in the pacific northwest, but it's going to turn into bigger rain as we start to get later into the weekend. but i wanted to talk about where we're going to see a white christmas. and you can see it's the usual suspects. nothing too unusual. as we look at the forecast here for next wednesday, the spots that could see, you know, he upper tier we could see in the northeast. i think the sierra it's going to be tough for a going to be a possibility, but not a whole lot in the way of a system kind of coming our way. that's going bring big totals and you can see that as we go to future cast. here is the rain is coming to the bay area. you can see that cold system kind of pushing off to the northeast next system rolls into the west coast. notice that snow is going to start rolling across pa

west coast. alaska and delta have been hit with a class action lawsuit over jet emissions near the airport in the seattlelawsuit alleged that emissions pollution is causing physical harm, death, and property damage. also claiming a five mile radius around seatac is a contamination zone. the lawsuit targets alaska and delta because it does claim the two operate 80% of the flights there at the airport. a federal judge has allowed this lawsuit to move forward. >> a new report from the urban institute finds a majority of american households are economically insecure or are not financially thriving. the research found 52% of households don't have enough money to pay monthly bills, and if they do, they don't have anything left over for savings. the report also found three out of five children and almost half of adults, including seniors 65 and older, face economic insecurity. >> black friday shoppers spent a record $10.8 billion online. adobe analytics reported this is more than a 10% increase from last year's 9.8 billion. online, they say about 55% of this year's online shoppers used their mobile devices, whi

pretty nice day on the west coast, los angeles right now at 73 degrees. but look at seattlethe 40's, seattle, one of the spots that's getting some of that rain right now. another area is some snow happening in the upper midwest. but other than that, it's relatively quiet across the country and certainly relatively quiet here in the bay area as we are getting the advantage of having a little highpressure move in to protect us from getting any of that weather that's hitting the pacific northwest. you see just a few of those high clouds that are rolling across, but that is it temperature wise, 60 degrees in san jose where up to about 58 in livermore. so we've been warming up their san francisco to sit. 54. still a little chilly in sandra fell. 49, but you can see we made it 62 degrees in santa rosa as that sunshine starts to make its way across the bay, even all the way out to half moon bay. we could see the blue skies have also returned. just a beautiful, beautiful day. there. do want to mention that as of wednesday afternoon, we do have a northwest swell. that's gonna be comi
