glenn youngkin is term limited, so they have a chance of winning in november. winning these special elections and keeping control of the state legislature. joining us now are two democrats running on january 7th, kannan srinivasian and j.j. singh. thank you both for joining me today. can we just start with the stakes of this race? because it is my understanding that losses in either two of these seats would result in potentially republican control or a power sharing agreement having to happen in one or both of the chambers. so can i start with you. just the stakes here in this election and how it's been campaigning in that november election? >> thanks for having me. yes, the stakes are very high. as you rightly said, it is a thin majority that we have in the general assembly. it is 21-19. there are many things on the line, a woman's right to choose, number one, is on the line. the constitutional amendment is on the line. my opponent has clearly said she will vote against it and she will ban abortion, so that's clearly on the line. common sense gun safety is on

they are very, very, i think, blessed to have one hell of a governor in glenn youngkin. gov. youngkin: thank you. first of all, welcome to virginia, and we're just so honored to have you here, mr. vice president, thank you for keeping your word. vp vance: yes. gov. youngkin: when you were here in october right after this devastating hurricane, you said you'd be back, and we are so honored that this is your first official visit. and so thank you. the words that the vice president shared are so accurate. this community withstood a devastating storm. where we are standing was literally deep, deep, deep with water, with mud. businesses were washed away. houses were washed away, and the community has responded, and we find ourselves now looking back in awe of the heroes that's had over 100 swift water rescues that saved lives, of the communities that came together and said we're going to rebuild together. but what we also see is the federal government has really ground to a halt in getting the resources to us. there was a very large cr past with a lot of disaster funding in it, and

the free press had a column on glenn youngkin on backing donald trump's plan and elon musk's plan tout federal government. glenn youngkin thinks that 300,000 virginians whose job seem to be on the line with donald trump's promise to dismantle the federal government can get a job somewhere else. i think that efficiencies oftentimes do result in that, said youngkin, a former hedge fund guy with a net worth north of $400 million. loudoun county is home to a number of individuals that disproportionately have ties to work for the federal government. virginia particularly has one of the largest military employees in the commonwealth. talk about the stakes as it relates to what could potentially be coming down the pipeline in virginia. >> you said it best, i was born and raised in northern virginia and both of my parents spent their entire careers working for the department of veteran affairs. it is integral to the entire commonwealth and it is not just federal governmental employees, it is members of our military who served on our bases. so the disruptions that they are trying to put into

and i got a different message than glenn youngkin got.ls shut down for head start for kids. there were moms calling who had teenagers had their kids in teenagers in cancer studies, cancer trials that are federally funded through the national institutes of health. you have got firefighters subject of our discussion today. and i appreciate our bipartisan work on this, who are the recipients of equipment grants and benefits. that's all happening. and federal judge had to step in to shut this down. and i think that's not the right way to do it. i don't like chaos. i'm happy to talk about government efficiency. but i think this is wrong for the american people. >> bret: all right. last thing. i do want to talk about your bill. senator cramer, that is a concern like how it was rolled out. there with s. a concern about funding and what is going out the door and they want to get a sense of it all. there was a lot of worry today. >> welcome to donald trump's presidency. i mean, like i said, every day that he has been the president, he has been ful
