we saw a lot of firefighters on foot there earlier, as well in the hills.s putting out new information saying that hey, have ordered mandatory evac weakss in this area and this fire started to burn 10:25 am local time about an hour ago at 1:125 p.m. eastern time in the northern san fernando valley community of granada hills that we have reported. they have evacuation orders there and it's also unclear how this one started. >> as you pointed out for an hour the entire hillside and the valley in between is gone because this fuel is so dry it just literally explodes into flames and there's another great view of a water drop. put that on the leading edge of the fire and try to wet down the vegetation on the other side. they are doing a marvelous job containing this from getting further out but we saw the timeline time-lapse of video from uc san diego in california. we played it out on wednesday afternoon of the early moments of the pacific palisades fire and how the entire hillside erupts into flames in the space of about an hour or 90 minutes and sweeps down i

my home is on the other side of these hills. i've been on the phone with my wife. she's with the two kids at home and they've got the go bags ready because we are probably about maybe a quarter of a mile outside of that evacuation zone. right now the wind is blowing towards hollywood. that's really important here, because what's going to happen is as that fire works its way up runyon canyon, it's going to go up, because of the topography, but the wind is blowing this way. it is blowing down towards hollywood, so the main concern right now is hollywood boulevard, is this area, sunset boulevard, and everything that is down below for a couple of blocks. that's why that evacuation order has been given. you see behind us we've got fire crews, we've got the police now staging and this is one of the areas where you should be able to see up on the hill. it's very difficult to see but it's still a ways away. but people are hopefully heeding those warnings, evacuating because the winds are strong enough. comparatively speaking, yesterday the winds are very, very light. but i

this was in the hollywood hills. and even as those first two fires were exploding in size, firefighters had to point their attention at this one. the good news here evacuation orders there have been dropped. now our local crews will join exhausted la area crews on the front lines, some of whom have already lost their own homes. this is the eaton fire burning in altadena and pasadena, where at least five people are now confirmed dead. now in all, at least 100,000 people are under evacuation orders across the city and the county, including inhe palisades fire zone, where the l.a. county fire chief said that there is a high number of people who were injured because they didn't evacuate in time. a bit of hope out of the worst fire in the san fernando valley, where firefighters were able to gain some containment. and that is the good news here this morning. now, firefighters from san jose, sunnyvale, santa clara county are among the latest to join the fight. they are committed for up to two weeks. oakland, san francisco,
