police chief floyd mitchell did speak at the meeting and listed his department's proposed changes to the policy, which do include rescinding the 50 mile per hour threshold and allowing officers to pursue suspects involved in property crimes and possible sideshow activity. right now, oakland police are only allowed to pursue if there is a reasonable suspicion that a person committed a violent crime. chief mitchell says it is time to review and reevaluate the policy, but adds that more feedback is necessary. >> my memo outlines substantive changes to the current policy that need to be vetted by everyone. the draft complete policy revision has several changes and is in no way a final product. >> chief mitchell goes on to say feedback from the city attorney, the police officers association and the community will be necessary in order to make changes. the police commission will now review the chief's proposals and then provide feedback. now to southern california. the huge fire burning near castaic is 39% contained this evening. that fire quickly exploded in size just yesterday afternoon.

i'm andrea mitchell in washington. the last hour, you have been listening and watching donald trump in mar-a-lago at a wide w ranging statement news conference. the president-elect speaking tot the press as his legal team has been trying to block several pending developments in the cases against him. some successfully. they have filed last minute attempts to stop his scheduled felony sentencing. that is still pending. new york appeals court will hear that. trump's team has been trying to prevent the release of the special prosecutor of jack smith's report on the evidence that the prosecutor says justifies the classified documents and election interference prosecutions. both case haves been dismissed but the report was still legally mandated. well, the attorney general merrick garland was to make the final call. but today, we are hearing that judge cannon in florida based on her throwing that classified documents cases out claiming the special prosecutor is not legally constituted, did not have the right to investigate.
