at chicago o'hare, one of the busiest airports, a grounded delay is in effect through tonight.tions for us in washington, d.c. terry, the storm could dump as much as 12 inches of snow when it's all said and done. what are conditions like where you are, especially on the roads? >> yeah, the snow is continuing to come down in d.c. and it's white and fluffy, not too heavy. we are expecting 2 to 3 more inches before all is said and done but this has put a stop to washington, d.c. public schools and d.c. government offices are closed. traffic as you mentioned, is actually pretty good if we take a look at the roads right now. the plows were able to get through earlier. it's light and fluffy so not too much of a problem here, which is good news for folks because if you look at the airports, that is where the real masses, looking at 1800 cancellations, more than 4000 delays nationwide, o'hare was at a ground stop earlier, some airports, if you don't have a flight that's canceled or delayed, you are incredly lucky. but there are some folks that are really enjoying this. i want to show y

the airport at that time wasn't that active because of o'hare was built and a lot of the airport wasind of quiet. when jimmy carter flew in, they had the organizations out there. we had the bands and balloons. he came out and talked. he was a very humble man. and that was the first time i met jimmy carter. and second time just before the november election, the late richard d.daly had the torch parade from all the organizations throughout the state of illinois and went from 4:00 in the afternoon, all the way to 2:00 in the morning and jimmy carter was there. he stayed there saluting each flow or band that came through. and also, when the late mayor passed away in december of 1976, he came to the mayor daly's funeral and we were all there. and jimmy carter was a humble man and talked to each person that was there and shook our hands. and also, the dinners that we attended at the democratic cook county party, he attended. but what i didn't like is when the late mayor burn became mayor of chicago when jimmy carter was running for re-election. cook county had the dinner down at the lake f
