well, the oakland police commission held another meeting last night about possible changes to oakland's police pursuit policy. police chief floyd mitchell talked about his proposed changes at the meeting. it includes lifting a 50 mile per hour limit for police pursuits and allowing the police to pursue suspects in property, crime and sideshow cases. right now, oakland police are only allowed to pursue if there is reasonable suspicion that a person committed a violent crime. chief mitchell says it's time to reevaluate the policy and says more feedback is needed. >> my memo outlines substantive changes to the current policy that need to be vetted by everyone. the draft complete policy revision has several changes and is in no way a final product. >> now, governor newsom and leaders of the chp want oakland to change its pursuit policy. the police commission did not vote on that proposal last night. >> kendrick lamar will have some company on the super bowl halftime stage, grammy winning singer sza announced on instagram that she will be joining lamar for his performance. the announcement c

the west oakland bart station.what the stolen ones look like. the four bronze plates within that plaque ripped out of the sidewalk. the west coast blues society, a bay area nonprofit commission, created this display as part of an oakland music walk of fame going back to 2015. that's when it was first installed. it was a way to celebrate a part of oakland's cultural history back in the world war two era, and in the decades afterwards, seventh street in west oakland was known as the harlem of the west. it had a vibrant commercial and entertainment district of black owned businesses, world famous music clubs, theaters, and performance venues lined the streets. musicians from etta james and b.b. king to later aretha franklin performed at those clubs. now, the walk of fame display was an important way to highlight that part of oakland's past. the director of the west coast blues society, which installed that display, says he's not sure exactly when these 40 name plates were stolen. it may have been weeks or even months

oakland unified school district could run out of money by next school year. the alameda county office of education says a county review shows years of district, you know, kicking budget problems down the road, leaving it strapped financially. course, what you're going just a closer look at what could happen if the district's board of directors don't act quickly. >> in a letter from alameda county superintendent of schools, alice castro sent tuesday to the oakland unified school district's superintendent and its board. castro says the oakland unified school district is operating on an unsustainable budget stating the school district's budget deficit is projected to reach 152 million dollars this year and without implementing the budget solutions approved by the board in december, the district could run out of cash by more than 30 million dollars in november. last month, the school district filed a negative certification to the office of education. in castro's letter, she agreed with the district self-assessment saying, quote, without significant intervention,

oakland police are asking any possible witnesses contact the department. one person is dead after a car crashed onto bart tracks in pittsburgh this morning. police say the driver was going eastbound on highway 4 before the car crashed through barriers and made its way onto the tracks of the pittsburg bay point station. that crash forced multiple lanes to close train service also halted but has since been restored. ford says the car caused significant damage to a railway. they're the cause of the crash under investigation. at this hour. police officers are looking for 3 people connected to a home burglary in pleasanton. the department released surveillance video showing the group of breaking into a home last week. those of the suspects there. police say this group robbed the house, then drove away in less than 10 minutes the group was seen getting into a land rover suv with a suspected stolen license plate. police did not say where the burglary happened. they are asking the community to stay aware and report any suspicious activity. >> and state attorney ge
