research programs fostering innovation in delaware already received stop work orders, putting delaware jobs at risk. mayors were fearful they wouldn't be able to pay first responders or continue pivotal water and transportation infrastructure projects. perhaps most disturbing some hospitals, community health centers, and clinics that serve rural and urban communities facing desperate health deserts don't know if they'll be able to continue serving some of our state's most vulnerable. in all of these instances, the federal funds my state relies on were appropriated by congress and signed into law by the executive. but the current administration is threatening to illegally freeze funding for these lifesaving services and to gut the federal workforce tasked with helping my neighbors. it has thrown communities across delaware and around the country into chaos. and that is their goal. the attacks we have seen in recent days on public servants and lifesaving programs administered by usaid don't just put our security and health globally at risk, they lay the foundation here at home to gut fed

the coalition for a safer delaware, delaware relies on it for suicide prevention, domestic violence interventionmmunity violence programs. we passed legislation in a bipartisan way to deal with safer communities. they need the money. and then the freedom center for living independent. again, they will feel the impact. our citizens with disabilities as well. the help initiative is also another one. i've told you how these misguided actions would impact families, workers,seniors, people with americans with disabilities acts and many others in my state. but we must meet these words with action. we must keep the pressure on. because we knee in this moment it is all hands on deck. delawareans know that i have a proven track record of working across the aisle. it has been my top priority in serving in the house to find bipartisan solutions and to work on behalf of delaware and the american people. and my top priority is to continue to do that and have it front and center in the united states senate. it's why after seeking out the voices of delawareans and asking the president's nominees the questions

i was responsible for the second la largest police department in delaware. i know what it means to have federal grants come through what's called the burn jag grant program. i know what it means to have federal grants for bullet-proof vests. i know what it means to have federal grants come through the cops hiring program. for state and local law enforcement, this was a moment of hang on a minute, what? when those grants were frozen. there's other ways that federal grants help our country be safe. promotes research that keeps us healthier. we just survived a pandemic made worse by president trump's mishandling it, but let's not relitigate that now. research hospitals in my state got notification from nih and cdc that their research projects were frozen and are now under review. the national institute of health, the centers for disease control, they distribute billions of dollars in grants, there are teams of folks doing research on the ground, in hospitals, in academia, in medical practices. all of them got notices these were being frozen. domestic violence s
