and then from there they were handed over to israeli forces, to the idf that transported them to the military base to be finally reunited with their families. and as you mentioned, right now, all eyes are on what seems to be hamas's preparations. the qassam brigades preparations to hand over american, israeli citizen keith siegel. and we are seeing the stage set. literally in in gaza city by the port of gaza. we understand, and it seems that at any minute now, we are going to be seeing that handover of keith siegel to the red cross before he is taken to that handover to israeli forces. and so what we're seeing kim today is a real contrast to what happened on thursday. those chaotic, shocking scenes that took place with the handover of hostages, including the release of arbel yehoud, that young woman who was made to walk through large crowds. and you could see how terrified she looked as she was escorted by the militants who handed her over. and that is something that infuriated and shocked so many in israel. and we saw the reaction from the israeli government, where they delayed the

>> well, right now the idf, the israeli defense forces, have had to go in and will continue to destroy hamas if they do not honor the terms of this ceasefire. so that's point one. point two, president trump looks at this in very practical terms in the sense of are we going to repeat the definition of insanity here and pour billions in, rebuild and just have another october 7th again and another war years from now? let's look at the reality of having 1.8 million people sitting in piles of rubble with no sewage, with unexploded ordinance, and he's asking in a humane way, what is going to happen to these people and everyone around the region says their heartbreaks for the palestinians, rightly so, but then come to the table with your plan if you don't like his plan and interestingly, we are seeing all kinds of outreach since the president made that statement of saying let's help you take this on and so there's conversations that are ongoing right now. >> okay. so having conversations with rld other world leaders of post-construction once the war is over. >> but the key piece is you can't

will there are 59 hostages, idf soldiers, half of whom the israelis, 35, are no longer alive. so second phase compels hamas to release all of them, compels the israelis and hamas to end the war. and israel's withdrawal from gaza. i see no way right now that hamas is going to agree to release all of those hostages, the remaining ones that are alive, and the bodies of those who aren't, unless they receive ironclad guarantees that the end that's the end of the war. and the israelis will withdraw from gaza. i don't see anybody providing those guarantees as far as the israelis are concerned. again, i think the prime minister wants, quote, total victory, unquote, over hamas, which means expelling them from gaza, expelling the senior leadership from gaza. and i think hamas is not going to agree to that. so we really face, i think, a choice within several weeks, either phase one will continue with dribbling out additional hostages in exchange for palestinian prisoners or a very real chance that the conflict will resume. >> and of course, there is. there is the trump of it all and the

of people are asking as a result of that if trump is serious about this, but israel has ordered the idfave gaza. what more can you tell us? >> yeah, that's right, israel's. >> defense minister said today, thursday he had instructed his military to draft a plan that would allow for the voluntary departure of palestinians from gaza. so this is israel katz. he said that he welcomed trump's plan to relocate the palestinian population to various destinations around the world. now, unlike trump's own proposal that we heard first two days ago, that the us will own the gaza strip, the defense minister's comments today offered a little bit more detail. he said israel would allow gazans to depart for any country willing to receive them through what he called special arrangements for departure by sea or air. now, katz statements didn't put a timeline on trump's proposal. it was just about this order to draft plans for palestinians eviction from the gaza strip. and while this announcement it also like trump's announcement, marks a drastic departure from official israeli policy on gaza. up until now

and end the war, essentially go into the next phase of this cease fire when he's supposed to withdraw idf troops and end the war altogether. which, make no mistake, is the wish of the trump administration. they want this war to end. but then netanyahu risks his own government collapsing. he's risking his political career, even his personal freedom, because he could go to jail because of all his legal problems. or he could restart this war against hamas after this first phase, maintain his premiership. but then you risk angering the trump administration and starting off this administration on the wrong foot. so that's the big question today, is whether netanyahu is going to commit to this second phase of the cease fire. the negotiations were supposed to start yesterday. they didn't. but israel has announced that it is sending a team to doha this weekend to start those negotiations. we did hear from the middle east envoy steve witkoff just a short time ago. he responded to a question about what president trump meant when he said, just a few days ago that gaza should be cleared out. take a l

situation and that comparison is the quota, but that second stage is also about a redeployment of israeli idf forces, both on the israeli-egyptian border. that was at least part of what they said from the beginning. and also in the greater other areas of the gaza strip. so that's already a different stage. that means not just cease fire, it means a movement of israeli forces, and that one is going to be, you know, a big stage, very important. um, it's a point where hamas hold cards. it's called young israeli men, older israeli men. i mean, let me be straight. if you're 48 years old, i love you. you're not necessarily what you would call young. and they're holding them as if they're israeli soldiers. um, so that we need to get those hostages back. the price goes up. and in that sense, it becomes a much more challenging negotiation. >> yeah, certainly most of the stumbling blocks sort of definitely start now as we sort of turn the corner towards that, that second phase. and we've heard from both the israeli side and from arab countries as well, that donald trump's plan that he kind of announced
