let's bring in our chief meteorologist, jeff ranieri, as we head into the weekend. jeff. and it's shaping up perfect here. as we get into your saturday and sunday forecast, we'll show you a storm ranger scanning doppler radar. and we have cleared out. there's a little bit of moisture in the mid levels of the atmosphere around the higher elevations, but not expecting any consistent rainfall this evening. winds also a lot calmer than last night, anywhere from five to about 20mph. we did have some rain down here in morgan hill over the past hour. that has also started to move on out. so as we roll through the forecast here, what you'll see is these rain totals were off the charts. we got over 11in in angwin, berkeley hills 6.42, petaluma 5.39 and san francisco just over four and a half. and that was in seven days. so 1 to 2 months worth of rain for a good section of the bay area coming in that seven day range. so we need a break. i do have lots of clear skies coming our way this weekend, but the one thing we'll have to contend with here is some cold weather to start, some fr

all right, jeff, we'll see you shortly. now, as forecasted by jeff and his team, we saw a lot of rain in a short amount of time in the north bay specifically. yeah. let's bring in our jodi hernandez. and, jodi, i know you saw that house actually floating down the russian river. that must have been mind blowing. a really crazy thing to see. jessica, it's been a wild day here in sonoma county. creeks and streets have flooded all across the county. and in forestville. as you mentioned, an entire house ended up in the river. i think it's crazy. i mean, the house went into the river. folks in forestville are in disbelief after a home ended up in the russian river this afternoon. the nonstop rain caused west side road to give way at about 1230. part of the road and a vacation home went sliding down. luckily it was a unoccupied vacation rental. we found out. so that was great news for us because we had put our water rescue crews in the river because initially we had no idea whether there was anybody in the home or not. i'm standin

what are you seeing, jeff? well, i can tell you, just starting off, since you mentioned the all star game friday, saturday and sunday, we don't see any major problems. it's just before that that we would get into that heavy rainfall. we have this wide reaching system in the pacific and this atmospheric river already beginning to line up. now, tonight we'll see some rainfall return near the coastline and the south bay. this is nothing that's going to cause any kind of flooding concerns here as we head through tonight. in fact, the rain is going to back off as we move through tomorrow morning. just a spotty chance we'd see it pick up again here once we head into wednesday night. some light to moderate rain, but the main event coming on thursday morning, one to about 8:00 in the morning with some very heavy downpours. and then we get into some on and off rain chances as we roll into thursday afternoon. so rainfall totals tomorrow. no big deal. trace amounts to about a quarter of an inch, but check out what's comin

let's start with our chief meteorologist, jeff ranieri. hi, jeff. yeah. hey. and you know, this is the same atmospheric river we had starting to get here last week, and it's just been kind of moving to the north, moving to the south and back off to the north. but it's not only the atmospheric river. we also have this system tying in with it, and that's pulling in the moiure. but the third component that's going to help to bring us some heavy rainfall as we move through tomorrow, is this stationary front that's going to stall out. and that's how we could get in, get in on totals up to about three inches. let me get you more details on that microclimate forecast. and we are going to take it right to storm ranger, an excellent tool to show you where the rain is moving in and out. and remember you can get access to this radar. check out our app at nbcbayarea.com, and you're going to be able to zoom in right to your neighborhood. what you'll see on the radar right now is the heaviest is over the north bay, indicated by some of those yellow pockets. we've seen it he

this is going to wreck a lot of weekend plans, jeff. tomorrow morning you may want to kind of switch things up a little bit because things are going to, well, get certainly very wet for. so what we're tracking right now is this atmospheric river that's aimed right here at california. now, the interesting thing about all of this is hitching a ride along that atmospheric river will be two surface fronts. at times they're going to stall out and slowly move through the bay area, and that's how we'll get in on some high totals. so let's go ahead and get to the radar. right now it's just some spotty rain. nothing big here from the north bay to the south baygain getting a little bit wet, but we expect things to pick up and in a big way once we hit tomorrow morning, you can see that widespread rain from the north bay down to the south bay. so overall, with this atmospheric river, we'll see anywhere from a half to three inches of rain. we'll closely be watching the creeks and streams. not too much wind. that's a little bit of good news this week

but what are you seeing right now, jeff? well, it is very spotty in terms of this rainfall up across the north bay, but we're getting some light to moderate returns showing up right now. i do think overall, as we head through tonight, we're going to start to see it lessen up here by 1130 this evening. but we'd be in for more rain chances here as we head through tomorrow morning. that could also bring some scattered thunderstorms, and we'd hang on to that possibility through the early afternoon, especially south bay and east bay, with some thunderstorms popping up. additional rainfall totals don't look that alarming right now. we'd see trace amounts to about a quarter inch. the way things are fairing at this point, especially in the north bay, our ground is saturated. do you see any flood concerns now in the next 24 or 48 hours? well, at this point, it's really just that you still may come up on some flood waters. we have a flood advisory right now for mark west creek right near windsor. this will likely be extended into frid

let's get right to chief meteorologist jeff ranieri. jeff, is flooding still a concern?rtainly is. we've seen so much rainfall over the past seven days that the ground is saturated. there's the system right there, hanging out across the bay area. as we get you into the storm ranger scan, you'll see winds anywhere from 15 to about 30mph. so still gusty. this main line of rain, this is now moving off towards the east, so we're beginning to see it exit the south bay right now. still a little bit of rain down there towards morgan hill and gilroy. so look at these seven day totals up to angwin over 11in santa rosa. seven and a half. so because of that, we do have this flood watch in the north bay. i just watch out. you may encounter some water on the roadways still, and those creeks, streams and rivers are still running very high and fast. but good news to report on the russian river tonight. we're out of flood stage right now. it's 27ft, and by tomorrow it starts to dip down to about 23 more. looks at this storm system and what's ahead for rain chances through next week comi
