thank you jodi. all right. the peninsula. dangerous combination of heavy rain and wind triggering a host of hassles and concerns there as well. let's turn things over to marianne favro. she continues our coverage. she's in east palo alto and here now the focus on trying to get some preparation so things don't get worse than what they've already seen. absolutely. i want to show you this. this is the san francisquito creek. and you may remember, in 2003, this creek spilled over its banks and caused major flooding in parts of east palo alto. you can see now it's moving very swiftly. there's also a lot of debris in here, which is why tonight, residents in this area are on high alert. across the peninsula. heavy rains made it much more difficult to get around today, as people dusted off their umbrellas and dashed into stores. here in san carlos, crews worked to make repairs after the storm knocked out power to this traffic signal. we do expect this storm to bring a decent amount of outage activity at this emergency cter in san car

i'm jodi hernandez, nbc, bay area news. jodi. thank you. let's shift our attention to the peninsula. now, this evening, the peninsula is getting hit hard with flooding and power outages. in fact, pg&e has an outage map here right now. close to 22,000 people are without power. that includes more than 9000 on the peninsula and about 5000 customers in the south bay. let's bring in nbc's marianne favro, who joins us in east palo alto with the very latest, marianne. raj. one of the big concerns is the san francisquito creek. and take a look here. you can see that the water level is rising quickly. and we've also seen big logs come through. now, this area flooded just a few years ago, which is why residents here are on high alert now. across the peninsula, heavy rains made it very difficult to get around and cause power outages, including some traffic signals in san carlos. pg&e says it has an entire fleet of trucks waiting to respond. the company says it's also beefing up staffing and turning to technology to determine where power may go out nex

our jodi hernandez was out there today as that home floated away. marianne favro has been tracking the storm on the peninsula, but we're going to start first our live team coverage with our chief meteorologist, jeff ranieri. and, jeff, you're saying we need another couple of hours before we'll see a little bit of relief? yes. we're starting to get some drying in parts of the bay area and others still into that rainfall. but, you know, if you were out there for just a little bit today, you could barely see 1 to 2 car lengths in front of you. it was really some of the heaviest rainfall we can get here in the bay area, and it's a all from this system here offshore, tying in with the atmospheric river just continuing to increase that rain. so we got two things happening for us here. it's clearing out in the north bay. and then the heaviest line is now starting to push just to the south of us. so we're just kind of in that in-between zone right now. still some gusts here of 15 to about 25mph at lower elevations. mountains gusting 30

jody is up first. good morning. you're on with congressman schneider. hello, thank you for taking my call. i am so concerned about the information that elon musk has gathered on the american people. pertaining to our address, or social security numbers, our routing numbers, our bank accounts. he is not even an elected official. i would like to know how he got into that position in the first place. caller: thank you for the question. -- guest: thank you for the question. the answer as to how he got there is trump put in their. he was not elected by anyone. no american in the country voted for him and he has gone through no vetting process. wasn't approved by the senate. not technically an official employee of the government, constrained by the rules of what working for the government means. yet he has access, as you said, to our most personal confidential information. bank accounts, social security numbers, routing numbers, how much we are paid, where we live, possibly even health care records. it's even more than that. more than anyone else in the world

i'm jodi i live in d5. i am on the cac. i was ash pointed by the mayor to represent engineering and finance. i retired and the direct of infrastructure and utilities at ucsf now helping out at public works. i specific lowmented to talk about the treasure i lands and yerba buena power issue. a year ago in february of 2023, the cac did publish a resolution on the item. and in that resolution, we -- talk the fact that treasure island and yerba buena have 18 outages a year totalling 4-5 years each sometimes more than that. that rate is 4 times higher than san francisco. and as moses said, if other if regular san francisco residents had this type of outage you would be all in flames so to speak. exist be residents in treasure island and yerba buena more than 60% are low income. and that area also ranks the highest disadvantaged communities. the people that are need our help the most are being hurt the most. everyone in san francisco is entitleed safe and reliable power. tida, you know is the treasure island development authority
