kron four's jack moment has more from san jose. >> union representatives with the san jose firefighters tell us that they usually respond to around 3 to 4 encampment fires every single day during the dry months. that number could increase to 10 or 20 calls every day we come to work. we know that there's a possibility for this type of danger for san jose fire. captain jerry may encampment fires like this one captured by kron 4 news last summer happened way too often. it's increased tremendously over the last 10 to 15 years since i've been here, the data comes from 2024. incident reports within the fire department data was first requested by the san jose spotlight and out of the 4,600 non structure fires responded to by san jose fire. san jose firefighters. local 2.30, says around 3,000 of those were from an house encampments. the union at the number is a couple 100 more than the year. previous were busy fire department, one of the busiest in the bay area. and so to see how many fires and we're going to dan and day out all throughout the year as really alarming and concerning may. it says

san jose checking in at 37 degrees. that's a cold morning in san jose. 36 in fremont about 32 degrees and freezing in livermore 30 degrees below freezing in santa rosa about 30 degrees. 32 in napa. so a cold start to your morning. high pressure. well, been trying to hold on, but the not a really strong ridge, you can are see a couple clouds begin to move in across our skies. we're going to see well, looks like a break continuing in the drug wet weather for at least another day, but not much further beyond that as we've got those clouds on the increase by tomorrow morning, we'll start to see some of those clouds begin to move in overhead. there's a slight chance by tomorrow evening. we could be looking at some light showers here in the bay area and then that should pick up as we head through the night tomorrow night. and then you see also some peak and some blue here down the court of your screen just over the mountains. maybe mount hamilton could be talking about some snow there and a lot more rain to come. some very he

nbc bay area's damian trujillo is in san jose with that story. school districts across the state are still doing the math, but the loss in state funding for one day is huge, and administrators worry there's another loss that directly impacts students. tens of thousands of students across the country stayed home on monday, an act of protest against president trump's mass deportation plans. it's important for them to see what's going on in today's world and that it's not right, and that they could actually they actually have a voice. school districts certainly heard the protesters message loudly. that's because some state funding is tied to attendance rates in san jose's franklin mckinley school district, 1611 students were out, well above the district's average sick rate. those absences mean the cash strapped district, which is debating school closures, lost roughly $128,000 in state funding in the nearby alum rock school district. the numbers were even 2900 students were out, adding up to a loss of roughly one quarter of $1 llion in state funding

not much in san jose.s type of weather pattern favors the north bay and the lift on the coastal and inland mountains to wring out the rain. steadier rain has been around all weekend long on the north coast. it's that line, by the way, that will make its way southward during the day tomorrow. so wake up tomorrow morning. just like we saw today with the cloudy skies, spotty showers at times not as much around the santa clara valley. by noon, increasing clouds and increasing rain by 3:00 into the north bay with highs tomorrow in the upper 50s to low 60s. so here's the timeline. mid afternoon tomorrow. rain rates starting to pick up in the north bay into the monday evening commute. rain now spreading southward across san francisco into the santa cruz mountains by 11:00. and then you'll see these areas into the south bay now into tuesday morning in and out of the rain for the tuesday morning commute. but the peak impact could very well be that tuesday evening commute. look at these colors you're seeing here on
