let's get the latest right now with our meteorologist kyla grogan. yeah. summit taking a lot half moon bay where normally we set a very calm bay that is here take you right back here and check out all of the waves and the white caps that are on them. an indication of the wind that is rolling through here right now. in fact, they've had gusts today that were in the 45 to 50 mile per hour range. you can see across the entire bay we've been dealing with a lot of wind as we go throughout today. we'll notice it will pull back as we get into the evening and then by tomorrow morning we will wrap that up. we are under wind advisory has been lifted for the north bay and for san francisco. but for the rest of the peninsula, south bay, east bay. and also as you can see along the delta, they're still under this wind advisory through about 11:00pm tonight. and so we still have that concern of this wind. it's that kind of thing we walk outside in the rain comes down and then you take a step forward and it comes at you because of the wind just kind of adds insult to inju

yeah, bleak and gloomy and kyla is back. so kyla people are wondering how. >> how bad going to yes.well, i think in the overnight tonight it's going to cut it. >> deluge of rain is what it's going to be in a lot of wind as well. you can see those gray skies that are out there. no doubt about it. and today we've started to see that increase in cloud cover tonight. we'll see that rain kick in. also, we'll start to see some of that wind pick up tomorrow. >> we're not out of it yet. and some of those cells tomorrow could even have a thunderstorm component to them over to ed to the to the fun of the whole thing i safe and sarcastically low-pressure system here. you can see that stream of moisture just ready to roll in and it is an atmospheric river. so we know that these are very well supplied with moisture and that's hat gets them going. you see just a little bit of moisture trying to make its way into the north bay, not quite there yet. wind is also still relatively calm. we have a high wind warning along the coast that kicks in tonight. wind advisory inland. we could see some of that

thanks, kyla. we're also learning more about the deadly midair collision in washington, d.c., that killed 67 people. investigators say preliminary flight data shows the plane. >> was about 325 feet off the ground when the crash happened. while the towers radar measure, the black hawk helicopter at 200 feet. new data from the black half itself suggests it may have been fined a little bit higher. that was not approved. officials have yet to determine if the pilots were wearing night vision goggles. they're typically used for a training flight, at least 55 bodies have been recovered and identified positively so far with another yet to be identified and recovered. and now to philadelphia where officials are providing updates on that deadly medivac plane crash that killed 7 people, including a child's. the mayor says 22 people were hurt. 5 remain in the hospital. 3 of them are in critical condition. news nation's mills hayes has the latest. >> investigators are back on the scene of the air ambulance cra

let's see what's going on outside right now with kyla. yeah, i'm gonna get to that snow just a second. but i just wanted to show this one more time because locally, we are still under a severe thunderstorm warning for parts of marin county and into san francisco. and you can see now it's been extended to 04:00pm as this danger continues. while the storms roll across some of them packing a punch with incredible wind gusts upwards of 80 miles per hour. incredible downpours as well. so we've got saturated ground out there. we are hearing reports of trees coming down and issue starting to happen like rock slides and things like that. so please be very careful if you can stay put. i highly recommend that now this same system is feeding all of this into the sierra. and that, of course, is leading to some snow. there. also take a look at this. these white caps out on lake tahoe. they got incredible wind that is out there right now, too. right now just showing southerly winds 60 miles per hour. they were above 30, not too long ago and they've got

kron four's meteorologist kyla grogan here with details.es, let's talk about the rain that will coming our way this week. obviously tonight, looking good here as we take a live look outside. no rain to worry about. >> just a really nice evening on tap. but once we get into wednesday, you can see we have a marginal >> risk. it's just a very marginal risk meeting just a little bit of a chance for some excessive rain. but then we get into thursday and it's much more widespread and it ups the chance a little bit. what that means is a kind of zeros in on what we need to look out for. and when which is to say we've got some heavy rain coming our way now. it's not tonight. it's not tomorrow. you're gonna wake up tomorrow with some clouds clouds will thicken up throughout the day, but we'll get home ok by about 11 o'clock at night. then we'll start to see a few light showers come in. i'm not terribly concerned about this. this one interest may because it's cold air and you can see that we start to see a little snow flying there on hamilton will see

we're going to check in now with meteorologist kyla grogan for details on past. yeah, we've got a nice but i want to take a second talk about what's happening here in the country. an arctic blast to these are actual temperatures. >> not wind chills. so think that through here. when i tell you it's -6 in rapid city. but even if you go down to dallas, texas, 39 degrees. 25 in boston, 14 in chicago, incredibly cold air in place. as you take your ally over here, you can see as well. the sierra is still in some of that cold. in fact, 30's had been kind of the norm for tahoe today. so this is the departure from normal. obviously, you can see just how incredibly cold this is and what a good portion of the country it is affecting with ar -20 to 25 degrees from normal. we are in a much better situation here. but look, what happens kind of fascinating is that you see this and then watch how quickly it goes away. that is thursday by friday. you're starting to see temperatures roll into above average territory in places like denver, colorado, where they have been, you know,

meteorologist kyla grogan has what's in store for tomorrow. but we're going to begin with charles clifford, whose live along the russian river where swift water rescues have been taking place. we'll start with charles. >> well, good afternoon. yeah. the north bay is getting a chance to dry out today. a kind of assess the damage. it you know, clean up. but also they are preparing for more storms ahead. across the north bay on wednesday, the rain has let up but lingering flooding is still causing problems along the russian river. >> the sonoma county sheriff's office says that they have spent the morning responding to multiple calls for service, mostly from people trapped by the high water. >> this is our 5th call or our swift water rescue teams training vehicle water where they needed arson since to get in guerneville these apartments on the north side of town are flooded, making it hard for neighbors to enter an exit, their homes along river road. the water's up to the doors at these apartments. residents here were using a raft to move around

meteorologist kyla grogan has details on our forecast. i sure do. and will day we had with the rain. start with the fact that we have record-setting rain kind of incredible, really was a daily record and san francisco, those broken. >> that was set in 18 87. we took on 2.8, 9 inches of rain. by the way, not the only record out there. look at some of these totals and you can see 2 more records. napa and santa rosa hit daily records. but then take a look at canfield over 5 inches of rain. we got over, you know, almost 4 and a half in sandra fell. oakland took on 1.6, 6 inches. you can see over an inch in san jose and then obviously those record setting numbers in napa and santa rosa. well, over 2 inches as well. so happy to say that we are dry today. and san francisco, everyone getting around without having to worry about this. but it's not far from mind when we do have a flood watch out for tomorrow. and you could see in and around the russian river. we're still under that flood warning. now we did have it also with the creeks in the north bay. and s

meteorologist kyla grogan here now with details on the forecast.es, about to get a bigger bath as we head into the next 24 hours. everybody. we are under a flood watch. starting at 4 o'clock today and that goes through wednesday morning. but actually in the north bay, we're under a flood advisory right now because we are anticipating with any additional rain given all the rain got this weekend, we could get into trouble. some of our creeks and streams. so we're talking about areas from about windsor. great in santa rosa down to rohnert park. and you know where those usual suspects are. those creeks and streams that rise quickly. so we are waiting for this next big system. it is the next big push in the atmospheric river. that is coming our way. this will be 2 out of 3. we got one this weekend to war this week. and this next one is the bigger one. currently 60 degrees in san francisco. wind out of the south. 26 miles per hour. so we're seeing that wind really kick up and over the next 5 days, unfortunately, you can see how spots up in the north bay

kyla. the california high-speed rail authority says the bullet train project is moving full steam ahead. >> this despite president donald trump calling it the worst manage project that he has ever seen. so now he's demanding an investigation into its finances on tuesday. it's earned about the project's high cost. the california high-speed rail authority acknowledges that the original plan that was presented to voters in 2008 indicated that the project would cost about 45 billion dollars. but since then, casa gone way up. in fact, the 2024r business plan released by the high speed rail authority projects said that it could cost anywhere. now between 88 and 100 and 28 billion dollars. by the time it's done. >> it's a possible that something could cause that much. we're going to start a big investigation and that because >> it's i've never anything like it. >> the high speed rail authority not responding to trump noting the original 45 billion dollar estimate did not account for inflation or a

thank you, kyla. we're gonna go to the south bay now and san jose.s say they're seeing more fire started at homeless encampments every year. and last year there were around. >> 3,000 fires that we're just reported to the department as kron four's jack molmud reports the firefighters union is saying something has to change. the day. we come to work. >> we know that there's a possibility for this type of danger for san jose fire. captain jerry may encampment fires like this one captured by kron 4 news last summer happened way too often. it's increased tremendously over the last 10 to 15 years since i've been here, the data comes from 2024. incident reports within the fire department data was first requested by the san jose spotlight and out of the 4,600 non structure fires responded to by san jose fire. san jose firefighters. local 2.30, says around 3,000 of those were from an house encampments. the union at the number is a couple 100 more than the year. previous were busy fire department, one of the busiest in the bay area. and so to see how many fire

kyla grogan in the weather center with details on this storm today. yeah, just another danger today. a high surf warning. the cut there, too. so we just have one thing on top of the other. this is where the flood advisories, all the area, basically entire bay area. >> and then you can see the warnings are around some of our creeks and streams in the north bay and also in the east bay. we've got some in alameda creek as well. so we are kind of in the middle of this. this where the last impose kind of rushed through. and that's what this will be now has different impulses. so as much as i'd like to say, we're wrapped up, we're just not quite there yet. you can see some heavier showers just recently moved out of the north bay. now catching a little bit of a break. some light showers there, a few heavier downpours in and around santa rosa. the peninsula now just some light showers as well. same story in the east bay. so we're kind of getting a breath right now. but i do not think this will be the end of it. unfortunately, we have lots of wind out there. y

it's kyla. yeah, everyone to know when it's leaving. that's a big to everybody. >> but yeah, it's coming in tonight. so we'll start with that. but right now you can see the clouds have moved in. i want to start with a live look at san jose just to say that sometimes we have these storms where i say, oh, well, the north bay is going to get a lot of rain. the south is not going to much. that's not the case. this time. the south bay, it's going to get plenty of this rain as well. the rest of the bay area. so we've got the increasing clouds today. we could see that a live picture tonight. that rain is going to kick off as we head into our evening. i think you'll get home ok before that happens. but that tomorrow we're going to have that chance of showers and wind and even a thunderstorm chance happening as well. so there's our low pressure system. it is in place and ready to deliver this impactful rain to us as we head across the next 24 hours or so. a little bit of moisture starting to make its way and probably not hitting the ground yet.

but first, we're gonna kick things off with proffers meteorologist kyla grogan tracking the weather headed our way. >> hi there. and yes, up at mount tam here. you can see behind me tell you the wind that is getting going up in elevation. some of it working its way down to the surface. you can see right now we're sitting about 27 mile per hour gusts in san francisco. 37, as you head out to half moon bay, are you? >> head up to the day they're also in the 30's as we go throughout our evening. that will be part of this system as it rolls in. it is a southerly flow and you are going to notice it if you're driving across any of those bridges, it probably right now. but certainly as we get into the evening under a wind advisory that goes until 01:00am in the overnight hours of tuesday morning. so those gusts expected to be potentially up to 45 miles per hour. make sure you secure everything around your home as the system moves in. it is an atmospheric river. round 2. here we go. the rain starting right now to roll into the north bay. you can see some of those showers mostly light right now, but

let's check in with kyla. yeah, hey there. the good news is we see the roads nice and open and also the winter storm warning now has been lifted. so >> if you are trying to travel up to tahoe, i think you pretty clear to go at this point. we're looking at diamond peak where they picked up about 7 inches of snow in the last 24 hours. just one of the spots because we have a snow everywhere, right? 32 degrees right now. it's still snowing up in some of the mountain areas. you can see the winds out of the south that too bad there about 9 miles per hour. and i want to take a look at what we got in the last 24 hours. so this is what the resorts are reporting can see palisades about 14 inches. 10 in kirkwood got 9 in mammoth and boreal. and as i mentioned, 10 diamond peak 7 time of peak rather in 7 in heavily in the bases are all looking pretty good, too. so you got some nice weather on tap. if you're headed up to tahoe this weekend, they are just wrapping things up just like we are right. we're just getting those showers to kind of

kyla is tracking it for us from the weather center. i'm sure and we've got clouds out there now, but that will not be the case a few hours. and we start to see some rain role and and it will be heavy at times. you can kind of see a little moisture right now starting to pull in. this will really kick off the showers quite yet, but it is a precursor of what is to come. >> which is from this low pressure system, the kind of see there with its kind of clockwise circulation. and i think most significantly it's very long tail of moisture that you can see that is ready to supply this storm. so we have been cool today because of the cloud cover out there. that's not too surprising, right? so we're sitting mostly in the low 50's a few mid 50's out there in the south bay. we're up to about 48 in petaluma. so chilly, right? very chilly in spots and we're starting to see the wind pick up just a little bit. this is really going to kick in in the overnight hours. we start to get that southerly flow and those gusts of winds start coming in as this fr

we just heard from kyla. we stopped by the city's public works sandbag distribution center. a few people are stopping by. i think lot of people have been used to this dry spell we've had for the past 3 plus weeks or so. but rain is back in the forecast. that flood watch does include san francisco. i checked in with a city's public works department who have been getting ready. here's what they had to say. >> we're working and regular meetings all the time, making sure that we're working in conjunction, for example, the public utilities commission of public works. we try to do or best to keep the storm drains clear, working in tandem with that. so getting information out to the public so people know what's going on and what they may need to what they >> and hopefully everyone in the north bay in particular got all your storm preparations under way as we see most of that rain there. everyone else around the bay area. you know, we will see some showers as as you've been hearing from our weather team. but really we're expecting another potent storm next week. so a tomorrow that s

meteorologist kyla grogan here. not the details. yeah, that's right. so up where there is a elevation, right? you don't have a lot of friction. so you get the wind really ramping up and it's indication of what's about to come down to the surface. and this is the mount tam cam now. and you can see it is not very pleasant up there at all. that wind is gusting, but we're also starting to get some gusts down the surface here to notice half moon bay, but to give a those coastal areas now gusting up to about 36 miles per hour. as we roll through the afternoon and the evening that wind will continue to be a part of this story as the system comes in. and in fact, we're gonna be under a wind advisory starting at 3 o'clock. today's expecting those gusts to be up to about 45 miles per hour. so you can see it's along the coast and also as we head towards the delta. but notice that it will also be in san francisco. so that means our bridges. you're going to be feeling that if you're heading across them, particularly and any high profile vehicles are low pressure he

our meteorologist kyla grogan here now details. we got a lot of rain yesterday. he got so much rain yesterday, in fact, are setting records yesterday. daily records. san francisco is one of them. 2.8, 9 inches of rain that beat a daily record all the way back to 18 87. but by the way, not the only record the here. a couple of i looked up. >> napa and santa rosa, which both got around 2.8 inches. those are records for the day and then look at cannes film, not a record, but an incredible amount of rain. 5.3, 6 inches. sandra fell just under 4 and a half. and you can see oakland and san jose there inch and a half for oakland. little bit over that. and san jose just over an inch. what a day. what a day. and now today we have the nice dry ground here at the embarcadero in san francisco. and i think everyone myself included appreciates it today. we do have a flood watch. that is up for marin and sonoma counties. and you can see that and that is for the rain. it's gonna be coming in tomorrow. we are under the flood warning in and around that russian river area and also

let's get the update now from kyla. yeah, that actually looks a whole lot better that it had a couple of hours ago. but still some of that snow coming down. this is actually taking 70 where we normally can see have to them. you can't see much. but you do see some fresh snow on the trees. cameras are actually haven't been working too well today. i think it's because of all the weather that's up there. 37 degrees right now south lake tahoe. we've got wind out of the south about 60 miles per hour. and so obviously we get the rain and then it rolls right up to the sierra and they're getting the snow. and right now we're getting kind of that mix between snow and rain. so following along those lines. i as we get into the overnight hours that will likely see more of that turn to snow once again as we continue to pick this up as we go throughout the night and even into the first part of tomorrow. so you can see where these winter storm warnings are and it does go for the sierra for the top of area until noon on friday. and, you
