it's over areas of lake county and farther north. few sprinkles reported over lake county at this point, but this is going to be sinking into the bay. looks like late afternoon, early evening. right now. it looks like it will not impact the central and south bay for the afternoon commute. tomorrow is going to be a different story, and i'll show you that here in just a moment. this is going to be tapping into colder air as this continues to sink south. we are looking at cooler breezy storm. and then thursday into friday, even colder storm and snow levels will be dropping. here's a look at the futurecast model picking it up for you this afternoon 5:00. so we now have some rain for lake county as well as in the north bay. but six 7:00 it looks to kind of hold steady just above the golden gate bridge, just above i-80. can't rule out a few sprinkles, but most of the wet weather looks like it's going to begin to slide in during the evening hours. and then tomorrow morning we're going to start out with scattered showers, and it will pick up

but the highest totals again tomorrow likely to be up here in sonoma county, lake county and northwesternu see those areas in red? a lot less again as you head into san jose and morgan hill. so morning temperatures will be mild mid to upper 50s to start the day and high temperatures tomorrow, upper 50s to low 60s, san francisco to oakland, low to mid 60s around san jose southward. now notice the rain projection monday into tuesday. a lot different looking here, as you can see on the rain estimates 1 monday night to tuesday time frame as this frontal boundary passes through and in behind it colder air. look at all the snow in the sierra. we have snow levels close to 7 to 8000ft this weekend. by thursday, as low as 4000ft, which means the higher peaks around the bay area could get a dusting of snow as we pass the middle part of next week. so those rain chances ongoing. this is what the seven day should look like in february. daily rain chances. but boy, that rain will come down pretty hard i think into the tuesday morning commute and cooler temperatures, which means a lot of sierra snow and

looking here, snow in the sierra, nevada and also snow in lake county. this is great news because it's not just great for the skiers. there's been some serious concerns about the snow pack. they did a snow pack survey that and water managers on friday and we're way below normal that to earth. 2 thirds what we ought to be in terms of snowpack in the sierra nevada. so this will help change things if we didn't have these rains coming, it would be a real concern is we have a lot of catching up to do, but we're going make a pretty good dent in it with this precipitation and all the snow pack monday, we start to see again monday night, especially some more rain come in and then that moisture plume head south again, target's us once again across san francisco bay area. and you can see even some moderate amounts of rain and again, that snow. so we get that the basic a big area of low pressure. that's a big trough right here. and that is just escorting all of this moisture in our direction. where does it come from? it comes from hawaii, of course, to sometimes th

and up around lake and mendocino counties, they're looking at a rain snow mix with really low snow levelsre's a look at the storm impact scale. it's a moderate strength storm, a level two rain with brief downpours, gusty winds, thunder chance and flooding is certainly possible, but the kind of flooding we're expecting is minor roadway flooding and streams and creeks as we go into tomorrow morning. 8:00 widespread rain heading into 10 a.m. you're still seeing that. and then it switches over to more scattered activity at 3:00. but you are going to see some brief pockets of moderate to heavy rain even into the evening commute at 5:00. scattered lighter showers late tomorrow night into friday morning. and then friday afternoon. one last push before the system gets on out of here. in terms of rainfall totals, we are expecting anywhere from a third of an inch to just over an inch for most areas. there will be some spots that may get just a quarter of an inch, so keep that in mind. winds will be coming up out of the south 46 miles an hour. half moon bay, 11 a.m, point reyes 38. it gets gusty, st

that's california's biggest reservoir, the state's second largest reservoir, lake oroville in butte countyird biggest reservoir, trinity lake, rose eight feet. all three of those reservoirs are well above their historical average for this time of the year. now, this week, operators of the dams increased their water releases to make room for more rain ahead of the latest storm. >> evacuation warnings have been issued in parts of los angeles county. a heavy rainstorm is expected to hit southern california, in the areas where fire burned all the brush and trees. emergency crews are on standby, watching for mudslides and trying to prevent debris flows in the areas burned by the fires. warnings are in effect in altadena and pacific palisades, and lapd will visit homes in the highest risk areas to issue specific evacuation orders. >> significant potential for mudslides. so we're not we're not at that area yet. what that means to the public is we want you to be aware of the concern. if you live in an area that was recently burned. >> some school districts have closed today due to the road closure

county. we're gonna take it out to lake tahoe where you can see we've got white caps on the lake. we are under a lake wind advisory there. they've been dealing with some snow. also wind happening down at the surface here about 31 miles per hour. you can see the temperatures are in the 40's now down in the surface. but we did have snow in the overnight and you're taking a live look at china peak. this was covered in snow earlier. they've cut since kind of clean some of that off. but if you take your eye back here, you can still see where some of that pressure snow has fallen and more on the way. in fact, a bigger system on the way for them as we've got cold air behind the system that's pushing through right now. some of the time we get to thursday, we're talking some pretty big snow totals. still to come. so you can see we're under the winter weather advisory and parts of northern california and then in tahoe were under the warning. so this system was rsthe second sy though, the colder system coming on thursday into friday, 2 to 4 feet of additional snow headed towards the sierra.

one called lake pillsbury in mendocino county which a lot of people rely on for drinking water as well as agricultural water. used to be a power generator in that area as well but the utility decided it's not worth the fight anymore so they abandoned it. if they get their way it'll be torn out soon too. it's one losing combination after another on this. all in the name of -- all in the name of the environment. and another loser for the people. the tearout of the klamath dams cost the people $450 million to remove those. $250 million came from a state water bond. now the rest of the bond is supposed to be actually building water supply, including the sites reservoir i could talk to you in a little bit. the other part came from rate payers of pacific corps where they were charged to put money aside for dam removal so the company could skate out of there without any responsibility for the damns they own. that was the honey deal put together for that. i come back to the picture of the shasta dam here. when the water is not being run through the turbines at the bottom of the dam, you miss o
