this new storm on the way, let's get to chief meteorologist lee goldberg of wabc. well, lee, take us through it. >> reporter: david, you can't sleep on this pattern. it's an assembly line of storms in the west and they're racing across the country. so, the icy mix that's leaving the northeast tonight. there's already winter storm watches for the weekend storm from new york city to hartford to boston. that storm is slamming the west coast right now. there's heavy rain north of san francisco. flood watches, some of that rain's creeping down up there southern california. there could be several feet of snow in the rockies. so, that moves out, and tracks toward the upper midwest. and that will be there by late friday night and into early saturday morning, could be upwards of six inches in the twin cities. and then to the northeast. come later saturday and saturday night, snow moves in, could be several inches on the i-95 corridor. david, there are two more storms next week. >> david: we'll get to those next week. lee goldberg with us again tonight, thank you. >>> in the

let's get right to lee goldberg from our new york station wabc. hi, lee. >> reporter: hey, david. a dangerous situation unfolding across the south. we had tornado watches out from louisiana to mississippi and alabama. active tornado warning west of hattiesburg. places like meridian all in line for this. the watch goes through this evening. to the north, it's a flood threat into kentucky. snow flying from chicago to detroit. icing in the blue ridge where they saw a foot of snow yesterday. it reason rain from d.c. to philly, but a mix from new york to boston that goes over to rain, snow for northern new england. out west, the third major storm of the week. it's coming onshore into california. there are flood watches out from san francisco to l.a. the heavy rain will get into southern california by tomorrow. up to 5 to 10 inches of rain, obviously concerned about the mudslides potentially near the burn scars. we could have 5 to 10 inches of rain and up to eight feet of snow in the sierra. this is the same storm that will cross the country and bring snow and rain to the midwest and no

let's get right to chief meteorologist lee goldberg from wabc timing this out again for us.i, lee. >> hey, david. we're about 24 hours from first flakes here in new york city. we have winter weather alerts from the northern rockies all the way into the northeast. tonight it's the upper midwest. maybe a few inches of snow in minneapolis. by the time we get into tomorrow, it's the great lakes with some snow and a wintry mix from the ohio valley and the mid-atlantic. and then as we approach nightfall, it's along the i-95 corridor. we've got some heavy snow, the brunt of it tomorrow night across the hudson valley of new york into parts of new england. those are the areas with the highest snow totals. 6 inches or more from places like albany to portland to the boston area. here in new york, we're going to get a few inches of snow. and then with the ice storm across pennsylvania, maybe a quarter inch of ice along i-76. an ice storm warning near johnstown. we get rid of this storm, more storming tuesday and thursday. >> david: we'll likely see you next week, then, lee, thank you. >
