marin county watershed the headlands, the hills above marin and it's been managed well. and so that's very fortunate. you get an atmospheric river. it's so often it comes a little too quick and you can't handle it, but we've been able to handle it. the mountains are getting rain on the snow, so we've lost a lot of snow. but overall i would say a very beneficial storm. we get a break. that break starts kind of now and works its way into tomorrow. so tomorrow for most of the day it should be dry. and then tomorrow night into tuesday, overnight monday into tuesday. that's our best shot for a pretty decent weather system. this is an atmospheric river induced storm, but it's not classic. it's one that's got a little cold front with it, snow levels will come down, the winds will come up, and it will feel more like a winter storm instead of that constant drizzle. so things are changing. but yes, we are got we do have more rain in the forecast right now. we're looking at tuesday and thursday as the bull's eyes for the next sets of next set of rain. we'll have the full forecast c

corner that they just now moving north of the golden gate past richmond, portions of the 101 in marine county and it will continue through the evening commute tonight. it's all the breakdown for you. one still to come and that stormy morning commute. we're lots of reports of flooding out here in a few minor >> 9.14, looking outside continued heavy rainfall out there all across the bay, but especially right in the middle of bridge is actually richmond center fell bridge. you are seeing some of our heaviest rain right now. half moon bay just very windy. and obviously the rain still coming down there as well. very uniform. widespread rain across the bay area this morning. but let's zoom in on some of these areas where we are seeing some of the core of this moderate strength atmospheric river, adjusting its attention currently. and as i mentioned, that is right across the richmond, sandra fell bridge of the north bay into contra costa county. we have already seen flooding on routes like 101 highway. 37 as well as on the peninsula and the east bay flats like around berkeley and oakland and we will

following the national weather service flood watch alert for marin county and the city of mill valley. >> we have obviously some rain that has saturated the hillsides, so we do want our community members to really be vigilant of their surrounding areas, their property, and to make sure that they're taking care of their neighbors as well. >> the southern marin fire district is ready to deploy an additional five engines, and the local office of emergency services water team is also on standby. are there any problematic areas that you guys are going to be focused on specifically today? >> so we're going to be focusing on the sycamore triangle area and the streams and creeks in mill valley. we're going to be doing that by having engines in our utility pickups patrolling through the evening. >> in the meantime, sandbags, plastic tarps and watchful eyes are what many here are used to. >> this is. >> the calm between the storms, but it will get as high as another three feet higher than this. so what happens is it gets blocked by that overpass right there, and the water goes around the house

so 22.1 eight inches in san francisco area, marin county could get up over 2.5in.ly healthy storm. there's two of them. there is tuesday's storm we'll call it. and there's thursday storm. the tuesday storm, this one much more aggressive than the thursday storm. this is where the rain is falling now. and you can see the scattered kind of heavy showers here. this is the beginnings of this cold front that's going to move in. and it's going to do a thing where it drops the snow levels down quite a bit. the snow levels will get down. and, you know, five 6000ft, they've been up above 7000ft. so that's going to be good news for skiers and such. but in the meantime we've got rain showing up in the north bay. this is tonight the model tonight at about midnight 11:00. it goes through to the morning commute. here we are, scattered showers. and then after that it loads up into a more consistent rain. and i'll show you that coming in just a moment. so clouds out there now just getting ready for the rain forecast. overnight lows. it's cooler right. we're doing the overnight lows

so some, you know, rainfall up toward sonoma county, up toward parts of marin county, but san franciscouth. not nearly as much. so they're going to get the rain up in the north bay. and then this is monday. our next system wants to come on board later in the day, monday and into tuesday. and finally, we're talking about significant rainfall in the south bay. so with that system coming on board later in the day, monday and into tuesday morning, that will boost the rainfall rates across the entire bay area. flood watches continue for the entire bay area until 10 p.m. on sunday, and we will likely see more flood watches into early next week. so here's the setup for tomorrow. we are expecting this more rain focused up in the north bay. not as much as today, but still some rainfall. scattered showers for the rest of the area and then on monday monday afternoon evening rainfall develops and it could be heavy at times, especially monday night and into tuesday in the sierra. they have a winter weather advisory in place around the lake tahoe area until 10:00 tomorrow, and the snow levels all wee

amounts have been three quarters of an inch up in petaluma, about a 10th to a third through parts of marin county. and as we take you into the east bay, 5/100 to a 10th out through berkeley looking at rain in orinda, you had about a 10th of an inch in moraga and then hit or miss along the peninsula. but there's all this that's going to fill in throughout the evening hours and a bit of a break. you saw a little bit of rain in san jose, 5/100 around ben lomond, and we could see upwards of three and four inches through the weekend in the santa cruz mountains, upper 40s to 50 right now, vallejo, concord, 52, in san jose. and look how wet it is outside from our roof camera. so the rain getting a bit steadier throughout the day. a level two system as we go through tomorrow, that atmospheric river gets pumped up and then as we get into sunday, looks like the line of rain is going to shift to the north, but then much colder systems. and that's what we like to see for the mountains come monday into tuesday. upper level winds over 40 miles an hour along the coast. here's a look at today and tonight. as you

you can see it surging in to marin, sonoma, napa counties, another kind of street of heavier downpours that's lining up. last frame of the loop shows the heavier frame that will be making its way in throughout the next few hours. let's take a closer look at the still radar image because the white box was outlined in the flood advisories issued for much of marin, sonoma, now they have been issued for san francisco and for alameda and contra costa county. so most of the bay area is included in those because they are looking at the large area of heavy rainmaking their way, but that will move across the entire bay area throughout the rest of tonight. so let's go back to the floor map and look at futurecast from right now through 2:00 tomorrow afternoon. you're going to see just wave after wave of rain, continuing to surge in. it will taper off, but there will be pockets of heavier downpours as you see that moving in, the flow of moisture with the river continuing to inundate the bay area. the more rain that will fall on unsaturated ground, the potential for urban flooding will go up and th

right now on storm ranger, our doppler radar, we have some heavier rain right now over marin, napa, sonoma counties. starting to get a little bit of rainfall there in san francisco and parts of the east bay. by 11:00 tonight, we begin to see some of that make it down here to san jose. but we're going to be into this rainfall here all the way through tomorrow morning. and then what looks to be some extremely heavy rainfall as the frontal system just kind of stalls out one to about 6 p.m. tomorrow. extremely heavy downpours expected. that's when we'll get in on some of the highest totals. and then this should kick out of here as we head through 10 p.m. tomorrow night. but as we have been telling you much advertised here, the rain is going to be a lot in less than 24 hours, and that's where we get into some flood concern here we could see anywhere from one to about two inches in the south bay, two to maybe two and a half for parts of san francisco, to oakland and other parts of the east bay, and 2 to 3in right up here towards the north bay. okay, a lot happening. that old blues song, stormy monday and

and it's all over marin, napapa, noma counties with the heaviest here right through santa rosa. and you're starting the rain here the past couple of hours. you're going to stay with that rainfall all the way through tomorrow. we're really not expecting it to let up here in the north bay. so on the timeline you'll see right here at 7:00, it's all about the north bay. and then as we head through, 11:00 pm begins to move down through the peninsula and east bay a little bit there for the south bay, but we're going to be continuing to see that rainfall certainly through tomorrow morning. so with this atmospheric river rain totals anywhere from 1 to 3in. so this is a pretty strong hit here for the bay area. we'll be watching the e creeks and streams. we'll get into some wind that gusts could get up to about 50mph. heavy sierra snow maybe on the two foot side for the pass levels anddditional rain later this week. look, we have a lot happening and there's a lot coming your way on this. we'll also talk about the flood concern. i've got another update here in about seven minutes. and that

into the latest view, you'll see on storm ranger, we now have the rainfall throughout marin, napa, sonoma counties, the yellow indicating some heavier rain. and this will stay with you over the north bay. do not expect a break in this rain all the way through the day tomorrow. it's going to stay with you here, so hang on. we're looking at it picking up here. back towards yountville into 610 tonight with some of those heavier downpours. and as far as the timeline goes on this, i think we'll eventually start to get it down here towards the peninsula and east bay by 11 p.m. and then for tomorrow morning, everybody has the chance. here's some rainfall as this storm front just stalls out across the bay area. so that's how we'll get in on these higher totals and likely starting around 1 p.m, we'll begin to get in on some extremely heavy downpours that would stay with us all the way through five, six and 7:00 tomorrow night, gradually moving to the south here by 7 p.m. and then get out of here once we hit 10 p.m. so rainfall totals on this as advertised still expected to be very high. and that's why we d

so you will have a wet drive home from work and marin, sonoma and napa counties mostly after the evening commute for the rest of us overnight tonight, do expect heavy areas of rainfall in some pretty strong winds along with it. tomorrow morning's commute is going to be a wet one in tomorrow. in general is the wettest day of the forecast as the atmospheric river ships downward and her right into the bay. this is also the day that brings the highest risk of any sort of flooding. we do get a breather into your wednesday afternoon before thursday. it kicks back into gear again and thursday will be another wet one with some pretty solid snowfall in the sierra friday, we started drying process that will take us into the weekend with a good amount of sunshine. actually, today's rainfall is going to kick into gear very late. so you don't have very impressive amounts for most of us. most of it in the north bay. tomorrow, though, we all get in the mix with one to 2 inches of rainfall. that's the day that brings the flooding potential with even more into thursday. as i mentioned, there is that risk

i think it's going to be marin, napa and sonoma counties with the highest risk of any kind of flooding. so just be careful, especially around any small creeks and streams. they will start to rise pretty quickly once we get under some of that heavier rainfall. we're not expecting huge wind gusts here, but it will kick up at times out of the southwest, 15 to about 35mph should be manageable on the wind front. temperatures here in the upper 40s to low 50s, so grab the jacket along with the umbrella. tomorrow. we're at 54, in san francisco, 49 in the north bay, and temperatures don't budge much through the day. we're hanging on to 50s here throughout the bay area. on the 7-day forecast, you'll see additional rain monday and tuesday. that's another system moving in dry wednesday. and then what could be a third one by next thursday's forecast. so a lot happening here. i think the big highlight on this is we will get some breaks here next wednesday and friday. and that should overall help us out. we'll take a look at the sierra snow. the russian river and a lot more stuff about the storm comi
