in today's cnn poll, overall, donald trump is underwater by five points in the new poll from pew research. donald trump is underwater by four points in the new poll from reuters. donald trump is underwater by seven points in the new poll from the washington post and ipsos that's out today. they've got trump underwater by eight points. all of this absolutely historically unprecedented. no president has ever come out of the gate with numbers like this ever before. and it is across the board. but, you know, on that washington post one look at this, look deeper into that. they've got they've got a minus eight. look, the proportion of americans who are strongly for him is 27%. the proportion of americans who are strongly against him is 37%. so yes, your perception, your anecdotal perception is correct. he does have a small, fervent base of support, but the base of fervent opposition to him is much larger, like ten points larger. the same poll also asked, do you want the next congress, the congress that's going to be elected next year in the midterms? do you want that congress to be controlled

politicians, with the kind of strategy that comes out of washington and in fact, you if you look at pew research, it shows that the majority of veterans of these wars think that they weren't even worth fighting. um, and so it's it's really a worldview that maps very neatly onto trump's messaging of not just institutions can't be trusted, sort of corrupt governance. right. but also onto this sense that he has that, uh, that using u.s. troops overseas is something that should maybe be avoided. right. he has sought to kind of withdraw troops, um, over both his first administration. and now we are sort of seeing some of the same skepticism about the use of of american troops overseas abroad in a second administration. um, there's a real sort of sense that, like, we don't want to use american foreign troops, american troops overseas in this way. um, and that's. >> based on their. >> and that seems to come from this same, this same experience. >> but there are officials who are criticizing the idea that these have been lower level, uh, military ranks, that they came from the lower level military ranks

i found this really interesting little data in the pew research. it says people were more likely to vote for trump. i should say of course voting for trump does not make you a bad person necessarily. there's murmuring in the crowd. [laughter] i hear you, believe me. but, with the pew data it shows is that among frequent-in 2016 we heard there's a lot of people called themselves evangelical but they weren't really churchgoers. they were casually attached and using that label and they voted for trump. but, the really religious people who were in the pews every sunday, they were not caught onto this at all. now you see people weakly churchgoers are more likely to vote for trump than those who are loosely attached. the only group for whom this is not true lease among white protestants is the mainline churches. iron for all this data to late 2015, early 2016 there is a lifelong evangelical i was like those of the non- churchgoing evangelicals supporting trout and all that went away. when there's no doubt he was the republican nominee and there's a stati
