i'm raj mathai. and i'm jessica aguirre. tonight, a break from the rain.ut the problems persist, especially in the north bay. from landslides like this one in marin county. that's how the day opened. yesterday afternoon, the hillside gave way, slamming mud and debris into an apartment complex at the bottom. this is off sir francis drake boulevard in fairfax. no word on how many peop might be displaced. take you to sonoma county. an evacuation warning is now in effect because of a high landslide risk as well. we saw this one in santa rosa. happened yesterday at a home on deer trail road. mom and a daughter inside. the father says he was at work when he got a call from his wife. as far as we know, the rainfall had been 4 or 5 days. it got to a saturation point in the ground and probably about 25ft of mud just kind of slid into the house and took out the house. luckily, no one hurt the home. the home has been red tagged. now the family tells us this was actually a newly built home that replaced the one they lost during the 2017 tub

this is nbc bay area news tonight i'm raj mathai. a pivotal few hours ahead of us. the rain is starting to move out, but the flooding will begin and the evacuations and power outages will continue. here's what we know at this hour. the strongest wave from that atmospheric river is moving out. but people in the north bay are now being told to evacuate. take a look. a mudslide in sonoma county sent this home. flooding right down the russian river. that's a home in the river. the nonstop rain causing west side road in forestville to give way. this is about the noon hour. this is a vacation home, so thankfully no one was inside. search and rescue crews were sent out as a precaution. i've never personally seen a house come off a hill out in this area before, so these are unprecedented rains that we're getting out here now. here's the bottom line as we move into the next several hours, the russian river is expected to flood by tomorrow morning. people in the low lying communities from unincorporated healdsburg to jenner have been told to evacuate. now the napa river also
