the city of san mateo will conduct its own. no confidence vote on sheriff corpus. >> dozens of oakland city employees are being laid off because of the city's budget deficit. talking about 77 employees who've been served, layoff notices in an email to employees. the city administrator says almost 100 workers will be laid off or moved to different positions by the end of the month to help cut a 130 million dollar shortfall. this is the second part of the city's phased approach to addressing the budget. the first phase included cuts to police over time and the closure of 2 fire stations. the second phase involves the closure of 4 additional fire stations. interim mayor kevin jenkins says on top of a proposed sales tax working on a plan to prevent these fire stations from closing. >> we've got 2.6 million dollars back from the open. we not in coliseum. they have 2 really good year as far as shows and at that venue. so that 2.6 million dollars will be used to offset some of these closures. we're also working to find other money to

a controversial ballot measure in san mateo got new support today.f voters approved it, it would allow the board of supervisors to remove sheriff christina corpus, an elected official. ballots are now in the hands of voters, with the election less than one month away. nbc bay area's ian cull has the latest on this saga. and ian, you also have exclusive reaction from the sheriff late this afternoon. so let's start with those supporting the measure. ian. yeah. and we've heard from the deputies union many times about this. but today we heard from council members and even a mayor as well. some of them say they supported sheriff corpus when she ran for office and her vision for the department, but now say they want her to resign or have her removed from office. a yes vote on measure a would give the county's board of supervisors the power to remove the sheriff from office. a no vote would keep things as they are right now. it follows a list of allegations against the sheriff that culminated in a report done by retired superior court judge ladoris cordell,

it's the san mateo county sheriff's office unions. they're set to hold a press conference at 11 30 this morning to announce their support for which is an initiative to give the san mateo county board of supervisors, the power to remove her from office voters will see that measure on their ballot in march. corpus is accused of abusing her power, creating a toxic work environment and retaliating against those who exposed her misconduct. she has refused to step down despite official calls for her resignation. and 67, another big story that we're following. san francisco police say that 2 officers were injured. >> in an unprovoked attack that happened yesterday afternoon on o farreland polk streets. the person opened and sfpd car and assaulted the officers. both officers are being treated at the hospal n for non-life-threatening injuries and that person has been detained. the charges e pending. the sfpd chief bill scott says the department is going to do everything in its power to hold that attacker accountable. in the east bay. dozens of

we've already had some flood advisories for san francisco and parts of san mateo county as well. and we've seen some of the lighter rain that still continues. it's been very steady for the north bay, but we've seen the biggest impact south of the golden gate bridge over the past couple of hours, and we're still seeing the after effects of all of that rainfall. as we track it with storm ranger, we can see that it is pretty much covered with rain. all across the bay area. we had some pockets of heavier rain earlier this morning, but that has since moved off to the east, and we're still watching out for the possibility that some of these downpours may also come with some rumbles of thunder and some gusty winds. we also have a wind advisory in effect. so a lot of impacts here as we see this storm system moving in very quickly. and that widespread rain all across the bay area. for san francisco it has gotten lighter. but because we did have the burst of heavy rain earlier this morning, there may be some standing water on the roadways. and just that reminder to never drive where water
