we're seeing a similar forecast all throughout the north bay as we make our way down into the santa clara valley. upper 60s are in store for us today in the santa clara region, anywhere from san jose over to los gatos. but as we head into the next couple of days, a cold front approaches us as early as tomorrow morning, and that's going to drop all these temperatures down by about 3 to 5 degrees. so let's dive into that forecast. starting off with today, the winds are relatively light. yesterday it was a little bit breezier along the coast with gusts up to around 20mph. well today closer to around 15mph at max. the rest of us are going to see light conditions into the afternoon and evening hours. tonight the clouds start to accumulate into the overnight hours tonight, and then we get a quick splash of showers for tomorrow. and we're going to time that out right now, so you can kind of see how fast the system moves through into the afternoon hours we go. we're just seeing mostly cloudy skies in the forecast. that becomes a lot more dense into the overnight hours, just ahead of this cold front that

and that includes the south bay, the santa clara valley. and then right around sunnyvale powwow to right now mullis out area. we are seeing a pocket of heavier rain impacting both highway 82 in 101, right there as are making your way up into the peninsula itself. east bay, shoreline routes like 6 ad about to be affected by some heavier rain as well as 8.80. making your way up the east bay shoreline coming down a little bit in san francisco and also a little low and rain activity for a lot of the north bay. the thing here is though, we are looking at this atmospheric river sitting offshore and a lot of this energy that is sitting well out in the pacific ocean right now is actually about to be impacting us more and more. all that cloud cover out there is going to be that uptick in rainfall that makes its way into the picture as we move into the latter part of your day today. so you will have a midday low and at least rainfall intensity. but we have already seen very heavy rain overnight. and now with that, we do have that ponding on roadways,

down in the santa clara valley real fast, upper 50s in store for us today, drier conditions for thishe doppler is still active right now, we zoom in closer to the south bay, light showers through milpitas, san jose, moderate showers on the foothills, also that same trend along the peninsula. on and off showers for the next couple of hours, we see that in hayward, and up north it is a lot more dry over into san francisco. and it is still a cloudy day for us, we will watch the clouds push offshore as we are heading into the afternoon and evening tonight and pretty breezy right now, wind anywhere from 20 to 30 miles per hour this morning, and we advance the clock to sunday, one thing i want to mention, we have light passing showers to the north bay , as we head into sunday morning forecast, adding up to around 100th of an inch, we'll have more in a bit. for now, over to you. >> starting off with breaking news in the north bay, that is where cruise in marin are working to clean up a huge rockslide and this is affecting the southbound lanes of highway 101. so, highway 101 south of rodeo a

we're seeing dry conditions from the santa clara valley off into the peninsula. dry conditions just up in the marin headlands. but that's going to look a lot different as we head into the next 24 hours. i mean, just into the overnight hours tonight, this atmospheric river starts to tilt its way all the way into the bay, bringing with it light to moderate rain with some heavy pockets at times, too. now we advance the clock all the way into the overnight hours. tonight it's going to start intensifying as we head all the way into the morning hours tomorrow. it's important to note that if you have outdoor activities tomorrow, this is what you're going to be up against. i mean, i even have a flight tomorrow. and thinking ahead, this is going to cause a lot of issues out there at the airports as the strongest part of the storm system moves through the whole bay area from around 3:00 to 6:00, you see those heavier cells off into the east bay. at that point, this is going to bring in plenty of snow to our friends up in the sierra. it brings rain for us here locally. we'l

the santa clara valley, the atmospheric river is giving everyone a taste of rain.nesday, that's when we clear up and we get that last splash. nothing nearly as severe as what we'll see tomorrow. that last splash of showers heading into thursday. on the back end of this week we do dry up. if you have weekend plans, if you're heading up to tahoe, it's not a bad idea to maybe wait until those showers die down thursday and head up friday, saturday and sunday. you'll have fresh powder, beautiful packed conditions. as we make our way all over into our inland areas, well, we're experiencing those dryer conditions on the back end of this week, too. lots to talk about from here over into tahoe and everywhere in between. we still have that heavy rain, that heavy snow until wednesday. we clear out for wednesday. thursday will be the wet one. i'll have more on what we can expect heading into the weekend coming up in a bit. >>> let's talk about the roadways right now. live look at the bay bridge toll plaza. you can see, it is backed up. metering lights are on and still might be

the santa clara valley topping off in the mid-to-upper 60s and we are in for a treat this afternoon, it is beautiful this morning as the sun starts to rise, and i was in the marine headlands yesterday, it was a little bit breezy, but that is not the case for today. to add to that, we are seeing partly cloudy skies in the forecast, that will look different tomorrow as a cold front approaches us on the topic of cold, we will also see rain in the forecast, too. it comes in relatively light, watch what happens for the next couple of hours, today lasting into the evening tonight, we will see the clouds become a little more dense from offshore, and you will see its signature, just a light band of rain sweeping the area, early tomorrow morning near santa rosa, on the way over into healdsburg, that will track down to the east and i down. we might get a splash or two along the coast, but that will clear out relatively quick and in total, give us close to around 107 inch of rain in the north bay. we have some changes for the rest of this week, but for now i will send it over to you. >>> thank

so a few passing sprinkles the most likely scenario for the santa clara valley. a few hundredths of an inch of rain around the golden gate with the north bay limited to less than a 10th of an inch of total rainfall. and those few leftover showers will completely dissipate during the afternoon tomorrow. so we'll see a little bit of sunshine breaking through before all is said and done by tomorrow afternoon. in terms of the amount, very limited. over the north bay, it is not even going to be enough to largely register. especially compared to the amount of moisture we have seen the first couple of weeks of february. in the sierra, a limited snow maker. we are talking about not even enough to mess up road conditions. things are looking good tomorrow. the dry conditions will last for a while. the eight to 14 day outlook takes us into the month of march. points to a significant chance of drier than normal conditions which doesn't mean zero rainfall but limited rain chances and that goes hand in hand with the above normal temperature pattern we will see by this weekend.

away at the rainfall deficit that we've been running for inland east bay locations and in the santa clara valley. but still short of what's normal to this point in the water here which begins on october 1st in both livermore and san jose. pretty close to normal in san francisco. slightly on the positive side with this latest sequence of storms. now at 116% of normal and of course the north bay has really been getting system after system even when you're in that dry stretch in january. you're running a surplus even through that fourth week of dry weather. you're not 177% of rainfall to this point in the season. talk about the weekend forecast, it looks like we're going to be dry for the chinese new year parade tomorrow. a lot of cloud cover over head but temperatures won't be a problem. dipping down into the upper 40s and low 50s during the evening. and the weekend as a whole is looking pretty good. there is a chance of a shower on sunday. but it's only about a 1 in three chance mainly north of i80. if anybody sees a shower it'll be very brief. we'll look at the full 7 day forecast which includes

those 60s in the santa clara valley and all these numbers within 1 to 2 degrees of what's normal for the 19th of february. 59 degrees in san francisco with mostly upper 50s along the coast as well. low 60s in the north bay, even with the thicker cloud cover and a better chance for tomorrow morning. let's time it out for futurecast through midnight and 6:00 tomorrow morning. one band of sprinkles, largely going to evaporate as they make their way through during the late night hours. we'll freeze them the a 6:00 p.m. that's when they will be making their way into the north bay, but they will not amount to very much at all from 6:00 to noon. watch the showers fall apart as they would try to make their way deeper into the bay area. other than the north bay, a few sprinkles, just enough to maybe make you fiddle with them on the morning commute. from midday into the afternoon, even the leftover sprinkles will fall apart as we might see them by tomorrow afternoon, partly why they are going to bounce back close to what's normal for this time of the year. let's add it up. it doesn't take a wh

that could be again over 2 inches, maybe 2 1/2 inches for some of our santa clara valley communities, but again, the heaviest rainfall easily is falling in places like the santa cruz mountains and our north bay communities, but we'll not only see rain, we'll see windy conditions. our winds are beginning to pick up, especially across our coastal communities where they're gusting 25 to 35 miles an hour and those gusty winds will stick around into tomorrow as well, which is why we do have wind advisories in effect, especially closer to the coast. that includes here in san francisco and for our more inland east bay communities, as we could be seeing gusts up to 60 miles an hour. let's take a closer look at the timing of the winds because it's our south bay communities and closer to places like half moon bay that will see the strongest wind gusts into tomorrow. today again coming in straight from the south gusting up to maybe 45 miles an hour, calming down especially for our north bay communities by early tomorrow morning. by tomorrow afternoon it's definitely going to be windy, half moon

just a little bit more south, meaning not only the north bay, but all the way down into the santa clara valley. we're going to start seeing these light to moderate showers, potentially turn into moderate to heavy showers with thunderstorm activity right around the corner. currently, we're seeing some lighter conditions closer to petaluma. heavier rain falling anywhere from bodega bay all the way over into guerneville. and we'll continue to watch this sweep off into the east with heavier showers into that three, four and 5:00 hour that stretches from vacaville all the way back into the mouth of the bay, all the way down into the santa clara valley, close to the santa cruz mountains, too. i'll have more on this in a bit. and how much longer we're going to see this rain last over to >>>>you. all right. thanks, jess. well, we're already seeing some flooding trouble spots in the north bay. this is new video from the highway one and west marin cars taking it very slowly through that flooded roadway. and veronica macias is live right now in downtown mill valley. so, veronica, how's it looking out the

pretty big drop off as we head into the santa clara valley. not much at all. uth bay is also in that flood watch zone, but there's not a lot there, thanks to the rain shadowing in the santa clara valley. different story though. mill valley more than three inches of rain over the last couple of days. mount tam to about 4.5in of rain and close to an inch of rain from san francisco to oakland. should see a similar spread for rainfall totals tomorrow. before we begin to see those bigger rain totals, head down to san francisco and san jose monday into tuesday. right now, 58 degrees in san francisco. light rain still falling in san rafael at 5560 muggy degrees right now in walnut creek. but here's some good news in terms of the wind. it was that south wind that really did keep some of the refinery fire smoke from drifting south into walnut creek or the tri-valley. right now that south wind still ongoing in walnut creek. and you can see san jose right now, you got a south wind at ten miles per hour at 60 degrees and still mainly light rain at times, as the more signif

san francisco down all the way into the santa clara valley.e're seeing those light to moderate showers you track off into the east. it's even more condensed in areas like concord, walnut creek, all the way down into the tri-valley area. and then we're actually seeing a little bit of a break up into the north santa rosa, seeing light showers trickle off to the east, clearing up right now with some heavier pockets closer to the bay bridge. now we continue to watch these showers move off into the east into the next couple of hours. notice though, how around 3:00 the time stamp just above my head all the way into the 6:00 hour. there's on and off inconsistency really. so there's going to be moments where we get light pockets of showers. if you're driving to or from work, and you start to hit one of those heavier pockets of rain, just take it slow on the roads. give yourself some extra space. more likely than not, that's going to move off pretty fast. and we're going to be seeing these lingering showers into the overnight hours tonight trickle off

east bay in the santa clara valley you'll be a dry pocket saturday night into the first half of sunday while the north bay sees more or less consistent light to moderate rain and 6:00 sunday through 6:00 in the evening, light to moderate rain showers continuing gradually making its way farther back into the east bay and the santa clara valley. the southward push will wait until after the sun goes down sunday evening. the entire bay area is still under a flood watch that went into effect at noon today through 10:00 p.m. sunday. within that time frame there are basically areas that we're more concerned about. today's risk of excessive rainfall, the terminology used by the weather prediction center, was in the marginal category. for tomorrow most of the bay area is in that slight risk. it's one level up. it means an elevated threat of at least localized flooding and then on sunday the risk of excessive rainfall, localized flooding, gets pushed to the north. the flood watch is for tomorrow, the first half of the day that all of us have to be concerned about. the north bay over the next sev

a couple sprinkles mainly in the higher elevation of the east bay and foothills east of the santa clara valleyet's add up what fell and look how well we did with the forecast, some forecast verification we call it. we'll saturday with san jose. what we forecast was just over 2 1/2 inches of rain, fell short of that, picking up only 1 1/2 inches of total rainfall, but well within the range of our boom and bust possibilities. the 1.55 inches is certainly above the bust end of the forecast. concord we managed to pick up a decent amount of rain, just over 2 1/4 inches, but short of the forecast amount of just over 4 inches, well within the bust and boom ratio. for san francisco, it's probably the best place we did in terms of the forecast. we added up 4 2/3 and forecast 4 1/3. for santa rosa this has been the theme for the season, overachieving north of the golden gate, over 7 1/2 inches of rain for santa rosa while the forecast was just short of 6 inches of rain. we'll look at how we're doing in the season coming up during our 5:30 half hour. for now let's look how things shape up heading into th

a little bit of rain possibility tomorrow around midday around the santa clara valley, 63 currently inu can see over in san rafael, more of the cloudy skies at 59 degrees and overcast. currently in san francisco at 55 degrees. now. by tomorrow morning, rain chances start to drop into the north bay. we wake up to 40 and during the day, highs will eventually approach the upper 50s and low 60s. scattered showers around midday and then clearing skies as early as tomorrow afternoon, so storm ranger will start to see more of that activity late tonight on into tomorrow morning, starting off in the north bay. and this is the timeline with this particular weather system. notice there's not much raiain.n fact, a few areas may miss out on any measurable rainfall. at times it may feel a bit more like heavy drizzle. anything substantial likely falls here in northwestern sonoma county, most places seeing less than a 10th of an inch of rain. but to see the most of what we get will comeme down dung the morning commute there in the north bay from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m, north of the golden gate, then approach

the city isn't working with santa clara valley water to remove hundreds of people who are camping along the city's waterways. and as kron four's zac moment reports dozens of people may be swept this week during the middle of the storm. and while the south bay set to see 3 or 4 days of rain, one of the largest and how candidates here in san jose is set to be swept. >> many of the residents who live here tell me that they're worried that the sweeping will happen in the middle of the worst of the rain. lot of moved over there their nestle between story road and 2.80, along coyote creek, you'll find more than 60 people living in tents the top of house. that ticket spent monday handing out supplies ahead of the rain that's moving in fast. it's actually going to be as low as 33 degrees in the coming week. what makes the storm especially hard for the unhoused here? is this a notice that they will all be swept sometime this week? the city would not commit to a specific time or day. they could just say, look, we are not going to sweep you. >> until after the rain, they could say that they could

switching perspectives from the santa clara valley to san francisco, get a little moisture on the cameras, looks like a little haze effect there. temperatures are in the low to mid-50s, a bit cool and chilly with clear skies overhead and the winds dying down, nothing to hold much warmth near the ground. temperatures will fall off through the rest of tonight. let's look at our low temperatures by early tomorrow morning. it's going to be a mix of 30s inland, some of the coolest spots in the north bay valleys in the mid-30s to a mix of upper 30s and low 40s closer to the water, 42 degrees in san francisco, 38 for pacifica, a little bit chilly, 36 degrees in livermore, into the santa clara valley right around 40 degrees in san jose and upper 30s for los gatos and morgan hill, a little below average for this time of year. everybody will be within 2 or 3 degrees of normal by saturday afternoon with that mix of clouds and sun, 62 in san jose, one of the warmer spots, a mix of upper 50s and low 60s around the bay, mostly mid-50s along the coast and low 60s for other inland parts of the bay as we

a lot of times we see a lot of rain in the north bay and hardly any in the santa clara valley. everybody picked up at least an inch of rain. we'll look at the radar replay over the last 24 hours because this time yesterday we were tracking that first batch of heavy rain that was making its way across the bay area. that continued through most of the night. as it moved to the east this morning, though, we did get into a little break for a few hours. that helped allow the first wave of rain kind of soak into the ground. the ground was still saturated. then the next wave of rain moved in. once that moved east we got into the pattern we're in now with off and onshowers, heavier downpours, the showers gradually becoming fewer and farther between. that's the trend through the rest of tonight. you can see widespread activity on the eastern half of the bay area and not as much to the west. that trend will continue through early tomorrow morning. we still have a number of flood advisories in effect, especially for the delta and points west and then a couple river flood warnings around th
