air traffic, the airport behind us here. 75 flights delayed right now at sfo. yeah. and this is a bay area wide storm. so let's go straight to john and get a look at what's happening yet. not just the north bay this time around. it is all of us getting in the mix with some really heavy rainfall last night. you heard it really stacked up already resulting in some problems on roads as you are taking to the roads earlier. >> if you're watching right now, you're either already at your destination or maybe a late commuter in either regard as you drive home from work tonight, do know this event last all day long today, the atmospheric river set up shop directly with that's you got your view here at half moon bay, an area that is looking at some heavy rain, really strong winds to take a look at that surf out there in the distance. some really rough waters. that is a stormy look to it. if i've seen it, we are seeing this moderate atmospheric river clearing directly into the bay area. now really packing its punch right into the core of the day. not the best timing. i know rig

i think as we head toward tomorrow, two-hour delays, sfo, oakland know you're looking good there. you're looking good. also in san jose at this time, too. but yeah, we've got a big change in the pattern coming our way. we've had that rain make its way back in to start out the month of february. it is dry right on the bridge right now. this the san mateo bridge. but the bridge is you got to be extra careful. driving across the bridge is as we look toward tonight and tomorrow, that's we're going to see areas exposed. the winds that are really going to be with an outside. and so, yeah, we've got wind advisories going up across the coastal including toward the golden gate bridge. got to watch out there and all the way down the peninsula. maybe some gusts over 50 55 miles an hour. it's been really ramping up over the mountain tops, too so it's going to be very blustery outside. and so just over the last few hours, we've had some of those gusts. you see point reyes to 39, even a 40 plus mile an hour gusts there in the last couple of hours. things getting very blustery outside specially

here's san francisco right here, sfo right here.ty, these areas definitely seeing seeing some heavier rainfall at the moment. you're also seeing some heavy rain picking up right around here in the tri valley. as you cross the snow. great getting up that direction. making your way up the peninsula. it is very wet right now. same up and down the east bay shoreline. but as of right now, if you are flying out of sfo, you have a big impact from some heavier rainfall that has made its way right over the airport. don't be surprised at all. if you have delays or even cancellations, it's rainfall continues. well through the next several hours. so through the morning commute, pockets of heavy rain on already saturated soils. that complicates the current situation, which is already proving to have some localized flooding as we move towards your evening commute tonight. not good timing here. you actually see our frontal boundary roaring through with the strongest of winds and some of the heaviest of rains. just before you take to the roads head

it's been very difficult over around 18% of flights have been delayed here at sfo and a lot of people who've been trying to on their flights have been just waiting, just checking constantly. talk to a couple people who said they've been waiting for. our other people said we've been waiting for a full day just trying to either get out or come back home to sfo. so one person we spoke with just a few moments ago, they're actually on their way trying to get their flight right now. they were supposed to earlier and then they kept getting notifications that their flight was just possibly that happening in the last minute. they said, hey, he got to get to airport. your flight is now back on time and then get delayed again. so take a listen to this interview. i did with them. >> we actually got engaged me in defiance and saturday. >> and the rain kind of threw a wrinkle into that. but we're supposed to go home today at around 6 o'clock. >> got notified that our flight was delayed. and then so we just came here and they didn't tell us when and we just showed up. and it just says delayed. there

it has been just a troublesome day at sfo. in fact, delays about this 3 hour delays at sfo. no delays being reported at oakland or san jose. but the wind's been whipping at sfo. some of those gusts as high as 50 plus miles per hour. right now, we continue to see showers falling in the bay area. the more widely scattered instead of that steady rain. but any that rain now just rolling off in many of the creeks and streams. and you can see boy that just coming on shore get a sense of a little swirl in the atmosphere. that's an area of low pressure right there at the surface. that's just about to come onshore. now on the backside of it, we've got another one spinning out there that was going to be moving next. the coastline as we head toward early tomorrow morning. so we've got a ways to go before that storm system winds all the way down and we finally dry things out. let's time it out for as we take you through the night tonight. there's the potential for a couple thunderstorms popping up in the north bay and some of that instability haven't see thing just yet. but we've seen s

so you've got over now or delays there at sfo. no delays being reported at oakland or san jose. but these next 24 hours, i would be surprised to see more delays out there as we've got a lot of wind and some very heavy rainfall on the flood watches have been posted again for the entire bay area. we're watching that very closely. not expecting to see any major streams or creeks really a rise well over flood stage, but you could see some minor rises rapidly. and of course, a lot of ponding out there on the roadways. got to be careful with some place to watch out for. we've got a flood advisory in the north bay right now. so we're taking a look near sebastopol. windsor santa rosa rohnert park. they've had over 4 inches of rain down below. they've had as much as 9 inches of rain up above on the mountain. so that is leading some rapid many of the smaller creeks and streams there, even the russian river near guerneville expected to rise near action stage as we head toward tomorrow. well, they get more rain. then here comes rolling in right now that strong band begin to push on shore. t

and with more on that, let's take a live look now at sfo. the flight tracker flightaware reports that there are 22 delays and six cancellations at sfo this morning. there's only a handful of delays at the main airports in oakland and san jose, but it's not clear if any of these local flight problems are directly tied to that national outage. >> time now is 706. the ntsb is now leading the search for answers in friday night's deadly jet crash in philadelphia. authorities say a medical transport jet carrying a little girl, her mother and four others crashed shortly after takeoff. that jet exploded into a fireball that engulfed several homes near a shopping mall. investigators say all six people on board the plane were killed, along with one person sitting in a car. at least 19 others on the ground were injured. >> it is entirely possible there will be changes to those casualty figures that you heard. we have a lot of unknowns about who was where on the streets of this neighborhood. >> that jet was carrying six people from mexico, including the

right now, we're looking at gusts at the surface well over 40mph in places like san francisco and sfoover at oakland, 41 mile per hour gusts right now, 47 mile per hour gusts at half moon bay. and in the higher elevations, those gusts are even stronger nearly 90mph. right now at pine mountain up in marin county. and of course, i mentioned that thunderstorm risk, which is with us until about 7 p.m, but there was a warning in effect earlier. apparently that has now expired. over in the sierra, a winter storm warning in effect until 10:00 tomorrow morning. we're expecting another 1 to 3ft of snow there through the end of the week overnight, once that cold front sweeps through that i described earlier, cold air will settle in. we're expecting low temperatures in the early morning hours in the mid to upper 30s, in the coldest locations inland. and here's the accuweather seven day forecast. a dry day tomorrow, except for maybe an isolated shower or two, but more rain will be coming in thursday and friday. kristen. >> all right, we are ready. spencer, thank you so much. of course, major floo

this is a live look from a saturated sfo tarmac. there have been lots of delays and cancellations all day long. that's right. kron four's lezla gooden is live from the airport. she continues our team coverage this evening was like, what's it looking like? >> oh, my if you all are outside, you shouldn't be if you don't have to be because driving to the airport was a little unnerving. high winds. difficult to see at some point. and we've been talking to travelers for the last hour or so. and they are very confused because a lot of their flights are delayed. now, according to sfo, over 18% of flights have been delayed or are impacted. only a couple have been canceled about 7. and so we've been able to talk to people who say that they're not really sure if they're gonna get on their flights today. one couple we talked to who just got engaged to revisiting out coming from san diego. i'm ed. you're going hear from them a little later tonight. but one traveler i caught with she was so fresh today that she was delayed for hours and you know

here is our live camera looking out toward sfo. lots of storm clouds out there and the winds are moving around as well. look at this active radar over the bay area, also out toward the mountains of northern california and the sierra nevada. we have some snowfall to talk about. here is our local imagery with the with the rain, some light to moderate rainfall. those darker shades do link up with some heavier downpours, as you can see closer to vallejo, maybe right in martinez as well. and then still some more coverage here, especially in portions of the east bay out toward san ramon, out toward livermore. in fact, we'll come in for this portion of the region. and those rainfall rates have been picking up this one cell. just click on it's a small cell showing you about 0.18in an hour, nearly a quarter of an inch an hour. and then back out the maps here, closer to the south bay and the santa cruz mountains, from san jose to morgan hill, also out towards scotts valley and santa cruz. here's the main system showing up on the satellite. i
