but we get away from the immediate coastline. you've got some sunshine and some passing high clouds and temperatures very comfortable. many spots warmer of well in the 60's. even some 70's more the same on sunday. lots of sunshine, a few passing clouds and warm temperatures go along with that right now. it is 64 degrees in san jose. 63 in livermore. 57 cool off now in berkeley. 66 and lael and 60 now in san francisco, the jet stream staying to the north couple ridges of high pressure bounce and that jet all the way up in the civic northwestward, bringing them up. plenty of rainfall. really? that's gonna be the focus of the storms. now least the next couple of days here as most that energy in the state. well, north of the bay area see right here on the forecast model. lot of that rain headed to the north northern california likely to get clipped couple of scattered showers as we head in towards saturday evening and sunday morning might even see some drizzle along the north bay coast. i think early in the sunday morning. but that's

we are seeing some fog right along the immediate coastline. you can just barely see that there. >> that will be more of a sign of things to come as we get closer and closer to spring. of course, the whole lot of that on the way during summertime. but in the meantime, looking outside today, boy, another nice day, slightly cooler in some spots. we're still manage to squeeze an least one temperature in the 70's and saint rose at 71 degrees. 68 a beautiful day in concord. 67 degrees live more. all these temperatures running above the average for this time of year. i think these numbers get a bounce up even a little bit more tomorrow right along the coastline. that will be kind of that if you spotted because low clouds and fog sea breeze that will keep those temperatures cooler of the door. right now we are cooling off 45 degrees right now in half moon bay is currently 51 in san francisco. chilly. 44, though, in fairfield, 46 in-app up and 48 degrees right now in petaluma. so we've got some cold spots out there around the bay area. but i think as we

now, much more off the coastline of fact. this a very intense storm are what's called the warm front. the cold front is going to come through a little bit later on. that is going to slam the entire state. will talk more about that coming up in a few minutes. but parts of the north bay saw the most damage during the bay area storms last weekend. some residents are worried the incoming rain >> could create even more problems in santa rosa mudslide damaged 3 homes and threatened a dozen more 17 in the area are still under an evacuation warning and neighbors say little work has been done to make the area before this next round of rain hits. >> i worry for these people because sir, after the last rain, you could see just lots of water coming down the hill. so, you know, there's that potential. >> wind also a concern in the north bay with neighbors saying they've already had trees knocked down onto their homes. pg e says it's getting ready to respond to the problems that may come up. in the south bay, a flood watch in effect through

many of thepvalleys, nice and warm 60's 70's along the coastline. got that patchy fog in some cooler numbers. sunday looks like more of the same. some similar numbers around the bay area still getting chilly in spots. 43 in half moon bay right now. 49 to 7 tail. 49 for friends in berkeley tonight. 50 degrees and saw sleet on 48 degrees in petaluma. so now a little cold in spots but not too bad. the just really taken most. that rain well to the north of the bay area up the pacific northwest. they're getting hit with the focus of these storms. now we're kind of on the southern edge and that's not a bad place to be these storms kind of riding over the top of california for the most part, the exception far northwestern part of california. towards eureka crescent city. there get clipped with the rain up in the chest area as well. we're gonna see some passing clouds throughout the weekend. then maybe a few more clouds, maybe some drizzle as we head in toward monday, that we're looking good. high pressure, build right back in. and there you go. we've got a

but just along the coastline, parts of the north bay, they're starting to see some gusts of almost 50 miles per hour. now. and that's going to be headed your way. so the storm system just putting itself together and it's going to bring with it. some subtropical moisture. and so the national weather service is now extended. that flood watch for the entire bay area, expecting some heavy amounts of rain watching out for some of the usual suspects were talking about the russian river at guerneville. also to mark west creek and green valley creek. but some place else in the santa cruz mountains. that's probably going to see some of the heaviest amounts of rain. now watch out for the san lorenzo river. and so cal creek as well. but anywhere around the bay area could see some quick rise on your streams and creeks in the possibility of flooding, especially in 2 tomorrow morning. here's a look at some of the wind conditions around the bay area knows point raised there, seeing winds gusting over 40 miles per hour over the last 3 hours here. so pretty consistent there. and then we're beginning t

right now we're going to see couple patches of fog along the coastline. we saw some that sweep in as we head toward the middle of the day today. but overnight tonight, partly cloudy skies. couple patches of fog of them that you're looking good tomorrow. lots of sunshine mixed with some of those clouds, probably some lingering patchy fog right along the immediate coastline. and you might see the same into sunday as well. but overall, these temperatures 60's and 70's, some places running maybe 10 degrees above the average. so really some nice weather outside 60 degrees right now in san jose is currently 56 in san francisco. in cooling off 64 of currently. 56 and cooling down now in sonoma 2. so the good news is high pressure in control. you got a couple of bridges out here and there bounce in the jet stream well to the north. so it's taking all that rain well, north of the bay area. and that's the way it's going to stay for the most part. now, far, northern california might get clipped by some rain showers. so we might see some drizzle in the north bay overn

you can see outside along the coastline. an area that's got some of our strongest winds of half moon bay. >> not sure. day to be doing a lot out along the coast. definitely seeing still some very heavy rain pushing in. but most of it is transition down to the central coast. you can see all that yellow down in hollister, monterey, even just south of morgan hill. compare that to the quieter perspective that we have across the bay area now, especially at the coastline as well as across the north bay where things are quieting down. still some moderate showers and even heavier pockets in the east bay. we'll see a few hours of calming conditions and then intensity ramps back up late morning into the afternoon with even a chance of thunderstorms that points through the afternoon 50's for current temps. definitely not the coldest mornings. in fact, pretty mild out there. winds will remain a factor today with 40 to 50 mile per hour gusts high wind warnings at the coast in high wind advisories for the rest of us stretching all the way

and there it sits just off the coastline and on approach. we'll have more on that tracking that storm coming up in a few minutes. >> well, i worry about wind with the trees because we've had a tree fall in our house before. >> people in santa rosa bracing for the big storm in the continuing to clean up in many cases from the last storms. here's a look at some of the damage caused by a mudslide last week. this is on deer trail court in the fountain grove neighborhood. 3 homes where red tag, although since then people have been allowed back in 17 homes are still under evacuation warnings neighbors say that they're really hasn't been a lot of work in their mind done to make things safer. and of course, more rain could make the slide worse. i worry for these people because after the last rain, you could see just lots of water coming down the hill. so, you know, there's that potential. >> crews have been clearing drains all over the north bay. they're trying to make sure water keeps flowing pg and e says it is putting people and equipment into pla

we'll see some of that rain develop near the coastline tomorrow night. i do think som spotty, scattered rain beginning here as well on wednesday morning through the day. and then we begin to see it pick up here by wednesday night. but really the heaviest when this is just going to be coming down so hard, so fast we could get into some flooding would start around 2 a.m. on thursday, right through 7:00 in the morning. so rainfall totals right now on wednesday. no big deal. trace amounts to about a quarter of an inch. but what i'm concerned about here is on those thursday totals. check this out. normally we do not see totals this high in the south bay. one and a half to maybe two inches. that's what could set off some flooding issues in the south bay. we'll also get in on about an inch and a half. san francisco to oakland, close to two inches up towards guerneville. along with that, we'll see some winds here 20 to 50mph on thursday right through the evening. and then eventually on friday that wind gets out of here, a sierra snow, 2 to 4ft expected across the

no delays being reported there along the coastline. huge waves moving in toward the beaches. rarely do we talk about waves this large moving in along the coastline, 20 some 30 footers with maybe an occasional 45 footer along west-facing beaches. i mean, that is a massive wave rolling in toward the coastline. advisory, in effect until at least saturday morning. so tomorrow is going to be rough day. that's for sure. storm clouds rolling through along the west coast. and there you go. that's that storm came right to the bay area overnight last night and early this morning. we're still seeing the effects showers on and off throughout the bay area now and still more that on the way you'll see pockets downpours, too. you see the cells come through all this and you might see a little thunderstorm rotate on by maybe some repairs, a hail high country, though they've been getting socked with all kinds of snow up there. it has been coming down heavily in the high country. of course, hard to get up there on 15, 80 your chain up there this. look at the very latest on the doppler radar. yo

within the next 2 to 3 hours, we'll see some rain near the coastline. you can see on the satellite radar composite image how close the storm is right now. and this is a strong level three storm on the exclusive abc seven storm impact scale. so it features heavy rainfall. as you mentioned, the possibility of flooding, damaging winds and dangerous surf. let me get right down to the forecast animation starting at about 5 p.m, we'll probably see the first rainfall arriving up in the north bay. then it will just slam through the remainder of the bay area during the nighttime and overnight hours, continuing continuing through the morning commute, then a little bit of a break during the late to mid morning hours. but then in comes another surge and that will keep moving through during the afternoon and evening hours. so both the morning commute and the afternoon and evening commute will be problematic with flooding rains and strong gusty winds difficult to control a car driving in those conditions. the rainfall totals will range anywhere from two inches to over

a little bit gustier at the coastline at times. should be just a wonderful weekend as high pressure, subtropical high over mexico starts to expand northward and it serves several purposes. it keeps down in southern california keeps the skies on the clear side. and then it also tends to deflect any storms up in the pacific northwest. so it keeps a lot of the rain away from us. but in the bay area, we on the middle of a boundary sort of between the wet and the dry and forecasting dry conditions this weekend except there's a possibility of a few raindrops in the north bay. so here's a forecast model and you'll see how close this precipitation is. forecast to come to the north bay this afternoon. a little bit of rain drops. maybe and then again tomorrow. so the weekend could have just a few raindrops, but not a lot. and again, even monday, monday afternoon, a possibility. but can you see south of the golden gate really not seeing anything on this forecast model. you know what if we get any county in hundreds of an inch and then after th

along the coastline. s surf continues and at least for this morning, we do have a few lingering showers and breezy winds. so here's a look at the state radar as we are seeing that storm system having a pretty big impact, not just for the bay area, but also bringing some beneficial rainfall to southern california, as well as a big boost to the sierra snowpack as that snow continues to come down this morning. a look at storm ranger shows the rain is easing up for the north bay and for the east bay. we're also seeing that last little bit of rain clearing out. so for san jose, parts of the south county, it's going to be another 20 to 30 minutes before that rain really starts to move out. but we are still seeing the wet road conditions out there and still some rain in some spots. that's been pretty heavy. it's going to pick up here for morgan hill within the next few minutes, and then our temperatures today head for the mid to upper 50. a little bit of a boost in those temperatures in the highs tomorrow headed

so through tonight we could see some rainfall near the coastline, also down towards the south bay, a little bit for the east bay. but again, not overly concerned about this. tonight we get into some spotty rain as well as we roll through tomorrow morning's forecast. what we are really pinning everything on in terms of that heaviest rain gets here by the time we head into 1 a.m. on thursday, you can see that orange and red showing up. that's going to be what could cause us some areas of street flooding here. starting at 1 a.m. on thursday, right through the thursday morning commute. so a bit of rain on wednesday, thursday the heaviest. this will bring us an elevated landslide threat. we're watching the creeks and streams and also the street flooding chance, i think down in the south bay that could be the highest down there. when we see so much rain in a short amount of time, it certainly kind of piquing my interest. and also some heavy sierra snow. we're going to take more looks at all the totals and the timing. i'll get you through that hourly forecast to get you through this storm t

it will be a breezy day ande'll still have the dangerous surf near the coastline this weekend. unday. right now the rain is over the south bay and east bay. we're tracking it with storm ranger seeing the last little push of this wet weather moving through and our temperatures today headed for the mid to upper 50s with a mix of sun and clouds. tomorrow as we get more sunshine it will be slightly warmer, mainly in the south bay with highs in the low 60s and that warm up continues into sunday, even though we will in some spots see a slight chance of rain. here's a look at our hour by hour outlook. dry today and tomorrow. but then look at sunday. we start out in the morning with some hit or miss rain in the north bay, and then it quickly clears as that system continues to weaken as it moves through. and presidents day is looking cloudy with highs in the mid 60s. mike, you still have two alerts you're tracking. yeah the first one bob redell is up there monitoring. he says we still have only two lanes open, two lanes blocked by a mudslide. the backup starting to form now approaching t

tonight, some rain near the coastline in the south bay. don't think this is a big deal at all this evening. and then as we head through tomorrow morning, we'll see the chance here of some spotty rain really through tomorrow. we're not looking at what would cause any kind of flooding. what i'm concerned about, and what i want to be clear about is the thursday morning commute. so beginning at 1 a.m. through about 9:00 in the morning, we'd be in for some very heavy downpours. and that's when we could get into trouble with maybe some of the street flooding coming in. so wednesday, a bit of rain. thursday the heaviest will be under an elevated landslide threat. just because we've had so much rain the past ten days. and we'll be watching those creeks and streams. also, heavy sierra snow 2 to 4ft could close roads. i've got more looks at the hourly timelines and that wind forecast coming up later on in the show. okay, jeff, with the south bay now expected to get a fair share of the rain, crews in santa clara county are focusing on what jeff was t

and you'll see some of that rain now developing just near the coastline, beginning to move into the bay area. although the bulk of some of the heaviest rainfall remains right out here. closer view of the scan and also our winds show things are not that gusty five to about 15mph. and we're beginning to see that rain once again develop. peninsula north bay, parts of the east bay. this is tracking off towards the east. you'll see that rain pick up in walnut creek, livermore and also fremont through the next 30 to 45 minutes. but we are watching a lot of stuff when it comes to the storm system. we do think by 1:00 in the morning there it is. heavy downpours that would stay morning with that widespread rain. so when it comes to what's coming in here, we are looking at isolated street flooding. i think the south bay is going to be one to watch with some of these higher totals, the creeks and streams running high elevated landslide threat. because of that strong storm we had last week, and also some heavy sierra snow. and on top of that, the wind. it's going to gust tomorrow 20 to 50mph. we'll

coming in from the north right off the coastline of british columbia. see there northern california starts with the rain tomorrow. by the afternoon it is moving through the bay area, likely to hit us in time for the afternoon commute tuesday morning. we are getting soaked, so monday afternoon into tuesday evening it looks like that next storm going to bring us plenty of rain. and by tuesday night into wednesday, as it's leaving the bay area, it's entering southern california. thankfully, it doesn't look like they are going to get as much rainfall as us. they need it desperately, but we know the big concerns there with the burn scar areas so they will receive some rain. but again, not as much rain as we're going to get here. these colder storms are also going to lower snow levels down to about 3000ft. right now is what we're seeing. so between tuesday and friday, if you're planning on traveling to the sierra, be prepared for that. here's a look at storm number three on our doorstep by thursday. right now it looks like friday. it does begin to push out wha

wind warnings continue, especially along the coastline. ill some very gusty winds around the bay area. in fact, this last hour, how about that going across the golden gate bridge? hold on, consistently gusting over 40 miles an hour. we just had a 49 mile an hour gust. there it is popping up across the bridge there in this last hour. so dangerous out there all around the bay area that continues. more showers roll in and out. and some of these thunderstorms likely to roll through seeing its downdraft under some of those thunderstorms. those winds get within again, of course, southern california just getting pounded right now with some very heavy rainfall. it is really beginning to move in to southern california. right now they've got flash flood warnings in effect. of course, you're looking at malibu, some of the areas where the fires are located. danger of debris flows long there as well. that continues toward the ontario. flash flood warnings there as well continue into tonight at about 9 o'clock or so very heavy rain, damaging rain in sout

notice around the coastline. e're really going to see that into the early morning hours as well. but we're also going to stretch into some of the interior areas. and that includes even maybe down through the south bay as well for the early morning hours. it's not going to last all day. we're going to get a nice mix of sun and clouds, and here where your temperatures will look like starting at 7 a.m. no frost advisories, no freeze warnings. we'll see some areas dip into the 30s, but that's further up north everywhere else, mostly 40s. and that's going to make way for a lovely afternoon right around noon. here's what we can expect. we start to warm up into the upper 50s. it will be breezy to windy tomorrow at times, especially around the coast, but even stretching down to the south, we're talking 15 to 20. no major gusty conditions that would, you know, be below that wind criteria. as far as advisories. 3 p.m. we're going to start to max out in thos upper 60s. look at san jose 68 degrees. and i mentioned the wind gu

the coastline as we head toward early tomorrow morning. so we've got a ways to go before that storm system winds all the way down and we finally dry things out. let's time it out for as we take you through the night tonight. there's the potential for a couple thunderstorms popping up in the north bay and some of that instability haven't see thing just yet. but we've seen some downpours that will taper off a little bit then tomorrow morning, you see that next area of low pressure swings and along the coastline to bring a few more scattered showers around the bay area and continue things as we head toward the middle of the day. then by the afternoon, it looks like things finally settling down on friday afternoon and some much colder air beginning to move. in fact, that'll be the big weather story over the weekend. are the colder temperatures. rainfall amounts here in the next 24 hours, probably about a quarter of an inch, maybe a half an inch or so. and some of the wettest spots where we hope to some of the coastal ranges don't get much more

, as we look at live doppler seven, there's a lot of cloud cover and there's some moisture off the coastline. looking at those temperatures at this hour, they're pretty much in the 40s and 50s. so the cloud cover is insulating us a bit. a live view from our east bay hills camera right now. visibility is all right tomorrow. scattered showers thursday. gusty in the hills and near the coastline. and then your weekend outlook will be springlike warmth coming your way. wanted to preview it for you in case you're trying to make outdoor plans. saturday. mainly sunny. feeling like spring, mid 60s to low 70 and by sunday even warmer than that. mid 60s to mid 70s. so temperatures are going to be a good 1012 degrees above average before we get to that tomorrow morning. we've got a few showers coming in 7:00 in the north bay as we head towards 10 a.m, starting to cross san francisco, parts of the east bay, as you can see. and then as we head in towards the 1130 noon hour, a few may make them make their way down into the south bay, but this is not going to last long. it's just enough to dampen the ground

but off the coastline, we've got a series of storms now just developing there off the coast.his first we're going to come through a pack, a huge punch for the one behind it. that one likely will show you more on that just a moment. southern california already beginning to prepare. we've got flash flood watch is up for the greater los angeles area and a flood watch for laguna niguel riverside, you name it expected some very heavy rainfall into southern california course. very those burn scar areas. all right. here's the forecast. you can see by tomorrow evening. some of the rain kind of glancing the bay-area. nothing really heavy cold enough. we might see some snow, maybe place like mount hamilton. but then as we get into thursday, there comes actually late wednesday night into thursday, very heavy rainfall moving in along the coastline, southern california to get hit hard, too. as we head toward the morning hours. boy, it just continues as it moves on through. so the focus going to be a little further south, i think with the heaviest amounts of rain, santa cruz southward coul
