the pacific northwest is going to get hit heavy, but here in the bay we're going to see passing cloudseft with warm weather. daytime highs throughout the bay area looks like the tracker is not working, but we're expecting 60s in the forecast throughout our coastline and our inland areas as well. it will be a nice mild forecast into this afternoon. down into the santa clara valley, 70, near san jose. we'll continue to see the 70s highlight most of the bay area as we head into early next week. let's dive into it. the area of high pressure, we can say thank you because it's keeping the atmospheric river well away from us. closer to oregon to washington where they could see anywhere up to around eight inches of rain. to add to that they could see around two feet of snow in the cascades, wind gusts 60 to 80 miles per hour. that's not our problem. just partly cloudy skies as the leftover showers are just to the north of us, closer to santa rosa as we head into sunday and monday of next week. santa rosa could see a splash but the rest of us stay dry and cloudy. speaking of dry, we'll continue

some showers towards the north coast of california, most of that moisture will be sent into the pacific northwest. it's a hill of air in the atmosphere pushing that storm track farther north. our next rain chance isn't likely until the first weekend in march. there's some disagreements in the various long range forecast models. we'll look at those in a moment. let's talk about what's happening now around the bay area because it's nice outside and it's nice to be the bearer of good news. here's a look outside from black mountain, seeing clear skies as the sun gets closer to going down. we're seeing a mix of 50s, 60s and one spot in the 70s, 70 degrees in santa rosa after you topped out at 73 this afternoon, a good 10 degrees above normal. otherwise temperatures retreating in san francisco and oakland to the mid-and upper 50s, 60s elsewhere. those numbers will continue to drop off through tonight. the fog is not going to be a major factor by early tomorrow morning. there's going to be some of it trying to develop and trying to make its way to the coast as we go through the rest of tonight into earl

and we will be for a while a lot of activity in the pacific northwest all the way into northern californiat few days for the next few days. but for us, we're just going to be on the south end. we're going to notice temperatures heating up. very, very impressive satellite image, though. and as you know, and as you've learned that you get this much activity, there's wind at the surface. so you've got swell coming out of here. so the waves the next week are going to fluctuate. like today it was 8 to 10. it'll be six day or four day tomorrow, 4 to 6 tomorrow, then back to 8 to 10, 10 to 12. it's going to fluctuate, but the swells are big. so you crab fishermen folks going to the beach just be you know, it's not going to be a cakewalk anytime soon. there's plenty of swell generated. there's tomorrow morning. this is the forecast model. so there's tomorrow morning and then there's tomorrow. right. would you call rain? yeah. you need an umbrella? no, i don't think so. and then this is noontime. so that's it. that's wednesday. it clears out. then we get into some fog stuff on thursday morning. val

you can see the tightly coiled core is right off shore from the pacific northwest, and the frontal boundarys just braced up and down the state of california as we zoom in. see all these bubbles here? this is an indication of all the different storm reports we received across the bay area today. it's over 160. so as of right now, the storm the frontal boundary has bypassed as but behind it we have a lot of backwash, a lot of rain showers. still throughout the overnight hours. we can see at this particular time the showers are zeroing in on the santa cruz mountains, where we've seen over 5.25in of rain. even san jose has picked up over an inch of precipitation today. right now, a little bit of light activity right near los altos hills into the mountain view area. this is a nice cluster from bay point through antioch into bethel island, just bypassing discovery bay. but we still have more rain in the forecast. let's call on futurecast here. and you can see by nine 10:00 tonight we all feel back in again with light to moderate precipitation. heaviest rain will be to the north with our friends i

the pacific is still there. it's just aimed farther up to our north. it's a very well organized one making its way into the pacific northwest directing an atmospheric river towards washington and oregon, but that moisture will miss us to the north. there is an outside chance of a couple sprinkles in the north bay sunday. that's the only chance of any kind of moisture that we have over the course of the next seven days. it's not going to be measurable. dry and warm weather will prevail. it's still mild this evening. let's look outside from salesforce tower to the east over the bay bridge, a mix of 50s and 60s, 63 degrees in concord, 60 in livermore, san jose and santa rosa, down into the mid- to upper 50s in san francisco and oakland, not bad for a february evening. those numbers are closer to our average highs, not after the sun goes down. we'll see fog spreading out through tonight. it's not going to be a huge factor for very long during the day on saturday. there's going to be a layer cake effect. we'll have some fog at ground level and clouds in the mid and upper levels in the atmosphere. even once the fog dissipates, we'll see sunshine, but it's goin
