we held a hearing in research park at the university of utah working labs that was going on right behindcan you share how important clinical labs art and expand upon the a.i. model mercy has used how it's increased your bill to define diseases? >> thank you for the question what diagnostic labs are little different than screening labs yet they are extremely important. the screening labs are trying to cast a broad net. the diagnostic labs and procedures there's also imaging, breast mri that can help nail down a lot better, with better accuracy what is going l on. those are critical to the overall workflow and process. again, what we've tried to do as a leverage from screening tools. ellie is a breast cancer as an example. by taking a survey one can sort out whether they are at increased risk if it could benefit from more than just a mammogram but a breast mri also done on an annual basis. they have a lot greater sensitivity for picking up early breast cancers with that. so, the combination of this screening test in the diagnostic tests are extremely important. >> thank you i yield back. >

universal and unilateral change to the funding structure of grants. it would amount to, i think you said about a $40 billion cut that would affect institutions, research facilities, people working on research everywhere from utah to alabama to massachusetts that has been frozen. what in terms of what the effect of that would be on american research and american ingenuity, innovation, like what is your understanding from working on this case? >> it would be total devastation. lives would be lost. and folks seeking care to cure to address cancer. both adult and pediatric cancer, ptsd, our elders dealing with dementia, you name it. the nih is the largest funder of biomedical research in the world, close to 40 billion. and this administration on a late friday night decided, with no thoughtfulness, to quickly cut a portion of that funding billions of dollars, which would affect academic research institutions and research institutions of all types all across this country. in a blue state or a red state, it doesn't matter. and not only not to do it thoughtfully, not to give any notice to those institutions, not to get them, give them time to prepare. so i, along with 21 other ags, stepped up democratic ags to go into
