that's how many are feeling as another round of rain batters the bay area. in the north bay, low lying areas are once again flooded. highway 121 at highway 12 in napa county is closed tonight because of the high waters, and public works crews are working hard to make sure more streets don't suffer the same fate. we do have a lot of localized flooding that we've got to attend to, but, you know, we're prepared for that. our crews are out and patrolling areas and keeping an eye on things. there you go. tim dudley is taking advantage of napa's sandbag station. he says water is flong off the hillside behind his house and his garage is flooding. i don't want water coming in the garage. it's going to ruin everything in the garage. i'm picking stuff up off the floor and put it on bricks and stuff like that. in yountville, folks who live in this neighborhood are holding their breath. hopper creek is once again on the rise and could flood. last week, the creek overflowed onto oak circle, making it impassable. in fact, one person took a spin in their kayak. neighbors do

the bay area is set to see another one two punch as a new storm moves in. the reason some people living in the north bay are on alert. good morning and thanks for joining us for our midday newscast. i'm marcus washington. and i'm laura garcia. we begin with our nbc bay area storm ranger scanning the skies above san bruno mountain as rain is set to move into the bay area once again tonight. yeah, but it's round two, which has some in the north bay on alert. meteorologist kari hall, of course. tracking that timeline for us. kari. and we are going to see a round of rain later on tonight. that's going to be very light. and not all of us will see that rain. but yes, the heavier rain is set to move in heading into thursday, and we will see the elevated landslide threat, mainly near the coast and in the santa cruz mountains. and we'll be watching the creeks and streams rise once again as we get all of this rain coming over a short period of time. and for the sierra, we're looking at about 2 to 5ft of snow before we hit the weekend. here's a look at our hour by hour

we want to bring in our nbc bay area's thom jensen.joins us from yountville, where it looks like it's already wet. tom, good evening. jess. yeah, and yountville public works and the sheriff's department here in napa county are warning people about hopper creek and other creeks that they could come over their banks tonight. warning drivers here on oak circle that the creek could come over the bank and flood oak circle by the morning. the napa county sheriff issued a flood watch for people living in the oak circle area. it said hopper creek could flow into oak circle overnight and advise people to move their cars and trucks to higher ground. residents declined to comment in the neighbororhood, and there we no signs of sandbags or other flood preparations outside homes or around some of the nearby restaurants that yountville is known for. farther west, in sonoma county, where rain is making for slick conditions tonight and possibly icy by morning, the storm drains are already beginning to fill up, and evacuation warnings remain in effect

and later for the rest of the bay area. so cities are preparing for this. we head over to bob redell, who's watching this storm in the south bay. what are crews doing there? reporter well, good morning to you, kari. you know, many cities are preparing for this storm, and first responders are putting out the same warning they usually put out. they know they sound like a broken record when they say this, but they say when that storm comes in, especially during tomorrow's commute, if you are driving through a low lying area and you see water in the road, do not try to drive through it. turn around. for example, this underpass here on santa clara street by the sap center in san jose is known for flooding. it wouldn't be unusual if it did flood tomorrow. that's why the city of san jose's transportation department will be out here to make sure that if it does start to back up, that they can get it unclogged as soon as possible. yesterday, workers with the city of san jose, they cleaned out more than 90 storm drains in east san jos

welcome to nbc bay area news at 4:30. our ian cull is talking to local leaders who went to new orleans to accept that handoff of the super bowl. we're also tracking some other stories on this monday, including a police chase that ended with an suv crashing into a parklet during a super bowl party. we have new surveillance video out of san francisco to show you. plus reaction from witnesses. also, they feel threatened, terrorized. traumatized. we talked to local federal workers worried about their future under the trump administration and a new round of tariffs announced by president trump. our scott budman tells us which goods these target and who will be impacted the most. let's begin now with the bay area now officially on the clock to prepare for super bowl 60. ten years after levi's hosted the biggest game in football, it is about to host it again. and organizers say this time it's going to be a bigger extravaganza. nbc bay area's ian cull joins me now to talk about that plan. the official handoff from new orleans to

before the bay area, it is pretty steady for the north bay. and then we're also seeing the impacts of all of that rain causing some flooding on the roadways, as well as the potential of some more landslides and flooding in the santa cruz mountains, where it is really pouring at this point. and so as we take a look at what to expect, we are going to see that possibility of more flash flooding in the santa cruz mountains, some street flooding elsewhere, and ponding. that means it may be a very dangerous commute. and so, mike, you're tracking that with a lot of accidents on the roads. and we have a 48 incidents reported by chp already this morning. i'm tracking with them, most of them standing water, larger puddles from flooding. look at all the blue puddling and ponding. the green shows where it's at least wet. at least i'm most concerned about this. this leaves only one lane of westbound 580 open at redwood road. there was an earlier crash involving a semi truck which may still be there. reports of several inches of water across all but the fas

all of the bay area basically, except san francisco and the coastline. the frost advisory is in effect, and in those areas, lows could drop down to about 33 degrees. and as you look at the projected lows for tonight, you can see we're talking about 31 at santa rosa and ukiah, 28 at lakeport. most inland east bay areas will have lows in the mid 30s. parts of the south bay morgan hill in the low in the low to mid 30s. we'll have the complete accuweather seven day forecast and see when it might warm up a little bit later. dan. >> okay. spencer, thanks very much. in the north bay, people living along the russian river in sonoma county can return home. finally, the sheriff's office has downgraded the evacuation order to a warning. residents are advised to keep an eye out in case flooding happens again. sky seven shot footage of at least one home still partially underwater. >> this week's storms are contributing to great ski conditions in the tahoe area for the weekend. much of the area is under a blanket of fresh snow right now. that news had drivers from the

gia vang nbc, bay area news. new at 11 tonight, redwood city leaders are joining a growing chorus calling for the removal of the embattled san mateo county sheriff. tonight, council members voted in favor of measure a. it could give the county supervisors the power to remove sheriff cristina corpus from office. leaders in millbrae, san mateo and san carlos have approved similar resolutions. now, sheriff corpus has repeatedly denied allegations from an independent report which revealed alleged abuse of power, nepotism and racism. voters will determine her future in a special election on march 4th. that measure would give county supervisors the power to remove her from office. a controversial debate in fremont about the homeless crisis. should it be a crime to help homeless people? fremont is on the verge of passing a first of its kind ordinance. the proposal has two parts. first, it would ban encampments on any public property and private property not specifically designed for camping. here's the curveball, though

tomorrow we'll start it off with 50s here across the bay area. so you'll need the jacket with the umbrella. and then by the afternoon we stay in the 50s here from the north bay, right on down to the south bay. other thing, if you're going to the sierra tomorrow, blizzard conditions, road closures possible. we're looking at anywhere from 2 to 5ft of snow on the 7-day forecast. we do get some much needed drying through the day on friday and saturday. just a slight chance of a spotty shower on sunday and we're drying it out monday, tuesday and wednesday. we get another important forecast model update between now and our 11:00 show. so we're going to have the very latest at 11. if we see anything kind of move one way or the other with the storm system will be all over that, no doubt. all right, jeff, thank you very much. up next, an update in san francisco after a stolen car plowed into a parklet full of people. the charges announced today. and as we continue our countdown to milan-cortina 2026, we want to introduce you to some athletes we're keeping

and it's pretty much all of the bay area. e won't be a particular area that gets hit harder than another, although we are expecting some of the highest rainfall totals to be over the santa cruz mountains, and that may also push into the south county with some heavier rain. but because the ground is so saturated in the north bay, we may also see some of the impacts there as well. so looking at the rainfall totals once again pretty uniform from the north bay to the south bay. but notice how spots like ben lomond can get over four inches of rainfall, and that could flow down into some of the south bay lakes as well as the reservoirs. and for the sierra, a couple of feet of snow, possibly up to four feet in some areas. a lot of heavy snow over a short span. and then it does dry out for the weekend. saturday for all of those outdoor activities is looking good, but it will stay mostly cloudy. mike, you're starting to see a bit of a commute. yeah, just like we should. we should see a little more car car volume here at the bay bridge

it's enhanced by nbc bay area storm ranger. you can see. still very active outside, especially in the south bay right now. and it looks like parts of the tri-valley. now, the great thing about storm ranger, it is closer to the ground. you can see it parked on top of san bruno mountain. it's getting a better scan of the rain in the bay area as well as your neighborhood. let's go to the south bay. one of the hardest hit areas of the storm. take a look at the flooding in gilroy today. this is on miller avenue, right by christmas hill park. uvas creek flooded, causing the street to be overtaken by water. other areas in the city flooded as well. this man trying to clear the storm drain to help the water dissipate. you can see people trying to drive through several inches of water. wow. the chp reminding people that just two inches of water can cause your car to stall out. so you have to be careful and a live look outside right now. still very soggy outside as rain is still coming down across the bay area. the roads and our cameras with raindrops

still some very gusty winds around the bay area.n fact, this last hour, how about that going across the golden gate bridge? hold on, consistently gusting over 40 miles an hour. we just had a 49 mile an hour gust. there it is popping up across the bridge there in this last hour. so dangerous out there all around the bay area that continues. more showers roll in and out. and some of these thunderstorms likely to roll through seeing its downdraft under some of those thunderstorms. those winds get within again, of course, southern california just getting pounded right now with some very heavy rainfall. it is really beginning to move in to southern california. right now they've got flash flood warnings in effect. of course, you're looking at malibu, some of the areas where the fires are located. danger of debris flows long there as well. that continues toward the ontario. flash flood warnings there as well continue into tonight at about 9 o'clock or so very heavy rain, damaging rain in southern california. guys. all right, lawrence. yeah

it's barreling for the bay area. there's a live look outside right now. the north bay has been getting the bulk of our recent rain. but this time, it should be a little bit more evenly distributed, and it is expected to warm up a bit as that storm moves through. in the meantime our chopper spotted a dusting of snow on top of a chilly mount hamilton earlier this morning. first alert chief meteorologist, paul heggen, joining us with a closer look at what to expect. >> this one will have more of a statewide impact, bringing more snow to the sierra, some of the heaviest rain to southern california. there is that rain. some sprinkles starting to make their way inward. wu the bulk of the shower activity still hanging off the coast. that will head through the rest of the evening. we'll switch over to futurecast and go through 8:00 tomorrow morning, which is the time frame between now and 8:00 a.m. tomorrow, when the heaviest rain is going to move into and eventually out of the bay area. so it this isn't going to be something that will linger in place for several

all across the bay area. we had some pockets of heavier rain earlier this morning, but that has since moved off to the east, and we're still watching out for the possibility that some of these downpours may also come with some rumbles of thunder and some gusty winds. we also have a wind advisory in effect. so a lot of impacts here as we see this storm system moving in very quickly. and that widespread rain all across the bay area. for san francisco it has gotten lighter. but because we did have the burst of heavy rain earlier this morning, there may be some standing water on the roadways. and just that reminder to never drive where water covers the road. you just don't know how deep it is. and we are also seeing that rain picking up from morgan hill to gilroy, and we just had so much in the north bay, we're at a surplus. even before this storm of 13in, we've already gotten our yearly rainfall. we've surpassed that. and that's the reason why we've had so many flooding issues in the north bay. but we are still

so cities throughout the bay area are preparing for tonight's storm. today in the bay's bob redell joins us with a look at what you're seeing in the south bay. good morning to you, kari. yes. they're clearing out the storm drains of gunk and debris to prevent flooding. for example, this underpass behind me here on santa clara street near the sap center. this is an area that tends to flood. so the city's department of transportation will be keeping an eye on this tonight, going into tomorrow, if they need to get in there and unclog whatever might clog up. this was the scene yesterday. workers with the city of san jose cleaning out more than 90 storm drains. this was in east san jose. sometimes doing this by hand, sometimes via a large vacuum trucks. there's so much debris. the city will also position portable pumps in areas that are prone to flooding up in the north bay, the santa rosa fire department tells us. evacuation warnings are still in effect for areas hit by landslides during last week's storms. that region has already seen around three feet of

that's not really that much in the past two hours for the bay area. it certainly is. n francisco has picked up over a 10th. and there you have fremont approaching a quarter, which is pretty decent for that east bay community. now take a look at this. this is just gorgeous. it is an area of low pressure. it's quite powerful. the leading edge of it is now impacting the bay area. plan on extra time for your morning commute. look at the plume of moisture tapping into some tropical moisture that leads all the way back to the hawaiian islands. so yes, it's raining now, but the heaviest rain showers are still offshore, and that's when the gusty winds really ramp up. you see, right now, heaviest precipitation from redwood city across the bay all the way into the fremont area. and another cluster of heavy rain showers now noted from orinda all the way through blackhawk into that five 8680 corridor backing through livermore. so the rain showers, according to our futurecast, does illustrate the heaviest band about 2:00 in the morning, hours behind it. 7:00 you say what? no proble
