you see blue skies, san francisco, san jose, walnut creek, and atop san bruno mountain.ere our storm ranger is parked, constantly scanning close to the ground for any possible rain. earlier, sky ranger flew over the russian river after the river got dangerously high earlier this week. tonight it is continuing to recede, which is great news. sky ranger also got this video of crews working to chop up and clean up a large tree in santa rosa that fell in the storm onto a power line. chief meteorologist jeff ranieri joins us now. jeff, i know we're talking about a break in the rain for the weekend, but looks like it's coming back. yeah, there will be some chances of rain here as we eventually get into next week's forecast. right now you see a little bit of rain left winds anywhere from five to about 20mph. so the winds calmed down. the widespread rain is gone. it's been so nice to get in on that sunshine. and you can see down here across the south bay. we do have some scattered rain in morgan hill that's going to be moving off to the s

let's take a look at a live picture from our san jose camera, where you can see san jose. 101 raindropsn the lens. people are moving slower, obviously. you take a look at live doppler seven and you can see that there is wet weather across the south bay from the santa cruz mountains, heading towards morgan hill. coyote. you can see here right around evergreen san jose. you're getting steady but scattered showers as we head towards the river road. guerneville windsor area. we're also seeing some rain. there is an urban and small stream flood advisory for sonoma county until midnight tonight. they've already seen some minor flooding and that urban flooding will continue. we're talking about streams, creeks, and of course, roadways. castro valley, hayward 8-80 dublin 580. it is going to be a tough ride as the roads are slippery. this is a level two storm, much of california getting either rain or snow. and as we go, hour by hour, scattered showers will continue going into the evening hours, even into the late night hours. as we take a look at the north bay flood watch is going until 1 p.m.

the program is free to anybody in san jose. a san francisco business owner who was shot right outside of his shop is now closing, but he says he's not abandoning the city. martin alev, who owns the vapor room near san francisco's upper market street, held a farewell celebration for his dispensary on ninth street yesterday. it will be closing down as he recovers after a major trauma. san francisco police released this surveillance video from january 27th. martin was outside of his shop taking a smoke break when a man rode up on an e-bike, pulled out a gun and pointed it at him. martin says the man shot him seven times. the gunman was later killed in this shootout with san francisco police, who found a cache of weapons in his apartment, which happened to be in the same building as the vapor room. martin says he didn't know the man or doesn't know why he was shot. he hopes to reopen again after taking some time off. we're going to try again somehow, hopefully in another location, because i don't really want to work at this location

kron four's jack moment has more from san jose. >> union representatives with the san jose firefighters tell us that they usually respond to around 3 to 4 encampment fires every single day during the dry months. that number could increase to 10 or 20 calls every day we come to work. we know that there's a possibility for this type of danger for san jose fire. captain jerry may encampment fires like this one captured by kron 4 news last summer happened way too often. it's increased tremendously over the last 10 to 15 years since i've been here, the data comes from 2024. incident reports within the fire department data was first requested by the san jose spotlight and out of the 4,600 non structure fires responded to by san jose fire. san jose firefighters. local 2.30, says around 3,000 of those were from an house encampments. the union at the number is a couple 100 more than the year. previous were busy fire department, one of the busiest in the bay area. and so to see how many fires and we're going to dan and day out all throughout the year as really alarming and concerning may. it says

san jose right now is at about 52 degrees. we do have some cloud cover down through the south bay, but notice the icon change here at around 8:00 9:00. now we are also monitoring with this rain that's going to move through to about 1045 11:00. what's showing up right now on some of our models is the potential for a wintry mix on top of the lick observatory on mount hamilton. so we'll keep a close eye on that for tonight. this is around 11:00. now this first round of activity is going to move through. but notice at about 1:15 a.m. overnight into tomorrow morning for that morning commute, that first shower activity clears out before sunrise. but we're not done just yet. here's where we're going to notice the bigger impact late wednesday into thursday morning. just giving you a sneak peek ahead. that is where the flood watches will be of concern. the wind watches will also come into play. and here's what we're monitoring ahead of that. so again, this first round of showers tonight will be light into tomorrow evening. and thursday

upper 50s around san jose, mid 50s around san francisco to oakland and into the north bay. now we did talk about rain chances creeping up a little bit more quickly as we get into tuesday evening, and we'll watch some of this rain on approach by five and 6 p.m. and i think by tuesday night and wednesday, that's going to be the first round that comes in with a weather system that is kind of dropping down on the coast. so notice the top rain totals, the green, anywhere from about a third of an inch of rain, maybe some of the mountains closer to a half inch. but we're seeing higher totals here out near the coast as the storm drops to the south. it also has some cold air to work with, so don't be surprised. some of the hills are east of san jose, and in the north bay. may get a dusting of snow early on wednesday morning and watch how that drops south. then we'll see this particular weather system setting up for thursday which may have an atmospheric river boost with it. and the timeline with that bull's eye is right there for the thursday morning commute. it does move to the cen
