. >> now, nasa is trying to build from the artemis mission to the moon to humans setting foot on mars. it will be an incredibly challenging mission filled with problems never encountered before, and a crew of astronauts daring enough to make the journey. to put it mildly, the journey would be unprecedented. we're talking about a journey that could take months just to get there. >> you're absolutely right. things are likely to break on a trip to and from mars. so you cannot take every single spare part with you. you're going to have to have some way of additive manufacturing, 3d printing. >> in addition to transportation, you need a habitat. we have not yet built a place for astronauts to live. for the 6 or 7 months it would take to get there and have really reliable life support, and to get to the land, you have to do what is the hardest entry, descent and landing in the solar system. mars has a very thin atmosphere and it makes it the worst. so you've got to use all the tricks in the book to get safely to the surface. >> and getting there is only half the battle. a round trip mission

this mission goes off as planned and then they can continue to build on success as they head towards artemislanding. separately, there's another lunar mission underway right now. this is a robotic mission. it is called blue ghost. they landed successfully on the moon in the very early morning hours. it's about the size of a small car and what's good about this one is it didn't tip over. you may recall a year ago, another company had a robot land on the moon. it immediately tipped over and therefore didn't get a lot of good data. this one landed just fine. it will conduct experiments for two weeks, surveying the soil, the temperature underneath the soil. creating a database for nasa as eventually it plans to put humans on the moon again and it's trying to build a database of conditions on the moon so it has a really good understanding of what they will be doing and where they will be going with humans when they do in fact return to the moon. so a lot going on there in space and as it relates to the ture of manned and crewed missions to the moon. back to you. >> tom, thanks so much. >>> still
