chris tavella worries the city could come after the tenant right to council program. if you didn't have that representation, where do you think you'd be today? we wouldn't be in our house without a doubt. without a doubt. his free attorney was able to fight off the eviction, while the landlord argued he did intend to move into the unit. the court threw out the eviction anyway after determining the landlord failed to give the family proper notice. we reached out to the landlord through his lawyer but never heard back. tavella says that same landlord recently sent him and his family a new warning letter threatening legal action, accusing the family of nuisance behavior. the list of complaints includes continuous loud noises coming from the family's four children like playing basketball, playing drums, playing air hockey. they're just normal kids doing normal activities. so the fact that someone would file something in the superior court that's calling children a nuisance to me is completely preposterous. tavella fears another eviction could soon be coming, and says his

i know that one of your council members, peter ortiz, has been skeptical. i don't know if he's opposing it, but he's been skeptical of it. destination home is an organization. when you talk to these organizations, what's their only pushback, i've heard is from a very small number of homeless advocates who have great empathy for our unhoused community, spent a lot of time doing great work on their behalf. these are good people with good core values who want to help, who are highly empathetic. but i have the responsibility of delivering a safer, cleaner city for everyone, which means getting everyone indoors. we don't have endless dollars or endless years to wait to move people indoors, and we need to find the right middle path. as you just mentioned, we have cities right here in our community that are outright banning camping. that is a lot closer to criminalizing homelessness than anything i'm talking about. i'm saying when we're offering you housing and you repeatedly refuse, we can't let you make that choice anymor we have to intervene. yeah, there are, b
