take a look at these rescued baby hummingbirds are being cared for by the spca in monterey county, whichthese photos with us. each year, hummingbird babies are blown from trees in storms or lose their nests during tree trimming. the nests are only about the size of a golf ball. sometimes the babies are reunited with their parents, but often they'll be brought to the shelter for care until they can be released back into the wild. >> they are just teensy and cute. well, a lab mouse with a potentially mammoth impact. scientists have created the wooly mouse, which is a genetically modified rodent that has several wooly mammoth like traits, most notably curly whiskers and hair that grows three times the length of an average mouse. the dallas, texas, lab behind these efforts has a chief science officer who has worked at uc santa cruz. wooly mammoths went extinct 4000 years ago. the company says the wooly mouse will enable its scientists to test theories about the link between specific dna sequences and physical traits that enabled the mammoth to adapt to life in cold climates. >> wow. interest

now notice the showers tomorrowight south of monterey county. best chances will be san luis obisp down into la. that's going to be tomorrow and through about tuesday. now wednesday is when the rain comes back. and you can see on the map here all the red and the orange, indicating about an inch to two inches of rain across some of the mountain areas, inland valleys, about a third of an inch to a half inch of rain closer to san jose. and the timing right now looks to be late morning wednesday through 5:00. that will be the peak of the rain, and then the colder air arrives as we get into thursday. we'll have some showers at times, maybe some snow near 4000ft atop mount hamilton or mount saint helena.. bu that cold air aloft is also an environment where we could have some thunderstorms with hail at times, so we'll have to watch that. we'll get a little bit of sun on thursday, but an unstable environment during the afternoon for those showers. and yes, the winds will be picking up as well. wednesday. maybe enough for wind advisories around the bay ar
