was aired nationally on pbs. we were nominated for a local emmy. it makes me so proud because people e honoring and sympathizing with my mother's story. and now chef two has a new cookbook out. i co-wrote the memory of taste with vallejo, one of the most respected food writers in the nation, if not the world. it's about time spent with my mom and all those memories that we created together. cooking in the kitchen. my mother as a marginalized person, she spent most of her life as a seamstress in sweatshops, getting paid by the pound. my mother, as a marginalized person, i don't think she ever felt valued in society, but i wanted her to know, especially with this cookbook as an homage, a love letter to her that the things she cooked for me transpired literally into her son to be a top chef. today we're making one of my favorite dishes called yum yum. it's a traditional vietnamese recipe that i cooked with my grandfather, but today we're doing a little bit of a twist on it. it's going to be a version where it's kind
