i'm the director of workforce and economic program services here at the puc. and today i have the privilege of presenting with the chief people officer wendy massey. but before she presents i want i'm here to talk a little bit about some of the worker and small business outcomes that have been achieved on other projects and the ways in which these things are accomplished. before i dive into data which will be on the slides, i want to briefly contextualize that data and the work that the agency does in the contractors do to achieve it. >> first let me say that the work of the group that i manage is focused on workers. so small individuals jobs, right? which is the workforce in that title and then economic which is means small businesses or contractors and contracts, right? those are the sort of like two pieces of the title or the name of our group. and so that's really where we focus, right? we focus on the on workers that can be on our construction projects or professional services contracts and on and on small businesses that can be on those projects as well.

financial health of the mta at the mta as an enterprise department just like the port the airport in the puc and all of those agencies generate income from their land through rents. they've done commercial development. they rent out their land to the airlines to, you know, other entities and generate significant income for those agencies and for the city. but the mta doesn't have that roadmap. we've never had, you know, like a development plan or a set of principles for that development and i'm glad we're starting that discussion but i wanted to put in writing that this you need to be so my resolution in i've worked with at supervisor shen thank you so much for your collaboration in coming up with some language that acknowledges that that there are other priorities and that we should as you know look at what we are getting, what we're giving up with those priorities that being affordable housing community benefits, you know all of those things but that the goal should be the financial health of the mta that we want to keep a system that is accessible, affordable, all connected and equitable
