. >> george: we're joined by julie pace and rachel scott. your day job is you cover congress. has gotten a real head start on congressional overnight here. they're starting to get backlash in their home districts, members of congress. >> i talked to several republicans who went back home to their districts, were in these town halls with angry constituents, and, you know, one republican told me, look. this is not just democrats that are coming forward. they're hearing from republicans. i talked to one republican in georgia and he told me he is now asking the trump administration and elon musk to have a little bit more compassion with how all of this is happening. because it's happening at such a rapid pace, it's not only members of congress that are blind-sided, caught off guard by it. it's also a lot of these agencies as well. what was notable about that cabinet meeting and the president saying, well, does anyone, you know, disagree with what elon musk is doing? you have several members of the president's cabinet that also pushed back against some of those emails sent to feder

senior political correspondent rachel scott was just embedded on an ice operation in virginia. operations. the administration says that they are going after what they call the worst first individuals who are in this country illegally but have a known criminal record. but as we saw firsthand today, it is not stopping there. at the second ice operation, agents arresting one man who they say was deported twice and reentered the country illegally. officials say he has been convicted of sexual battery. but inside that residence, there were two minors and an uncle. agents believe that the uncle is undocumented. they told him to turn himself in to immigration authorities in two days. so we asked the secretary of homeland security, kristi noem, what happens to those minors? >> this family, we. >> don't know what other family members they have. that's why he. >> has two days to go locate them and make sure these kids are are with someone in their family that they believe will keep them safe and set a better example for them. >> there is that likelihood that these families could be separa

our chief washington correspondent, jon karl, our senior political correspondent, rachel scott. jon, let me begin with you. you've covered so many of these addresses. we've never seen one quite like this. >> look, we've grown accustomed to partizan. state of the union addresses deeply divided reactions. but this, george, really did hit a new level. and that's for a couple of reasons. first of all, in that chamber, the republicans are more fervent in their support of donald trump than anything we saw in his first term. remember, in his first term, there were still pockets of resistance among republicans in congress. even the republican leaders weren't fully all in on everything. trump, those republicans in that chamber, truly loved what they hear and reflected that. and the democrats clearly haven't figured out how to respond to all of this. some of them decided to skip the speech entirely. some decided to walk out. you saw al green decided to get thrown out of the speech, but they haven't really landed on how to respond to donald trump. i suspect that the reaction in the country
