this is a look at the bay bridge right now. traffic clearer than it was a few hours ago. now, the crash happened near the bridge toll plaza around two this afternoon. police say a man was on a motorcycle who was thrown into traffic when he collided with a toyota corolla. he was in the path of traffic when another car struck him. the 30 year old died at the scene. police say the driver of the toyota is cooperating, but the driver in the second car fled. officers have not released the identity of the motorcyclist yet. crews closed two lanes of the bridge for almost two hours to clear the scene. it caused a backup that stretched all the way into san francisco. the lanes were reopened around 430 today. new details tonight about a different crash. the deadly cyber truck crash that killed three college students in piedmont. the chp just released a report that says speed and intoxication caused the crash. it happened back on november 27th near hampton road and king avenue. the chp says the driver was drunk and had methamphetamine in his system that night. they believe that his le

tonight we're learning that an opossum that ran across the bay bridge earlier this week wasn't alone. she was carrying babies in her pouch. now, this all started monday morning when a driver spotted the adventurous marsupial on the bridge and called. chp. officers found her running along the upper deck's right shoulder near treasure island. the officers were eventually able to catch her with the help of a good samaritan. the opossum was taken to the wildlife hospital to be checked out. they found ten babies inside her pouch. the hospital says it will take care of the mom and her babies until they are ready to be released back into the wild. it's a great story. i know she was like, please put me down, please. yeah, thanks for the help, but i'm done now. jeffrey joins us now talking about rain this weekend. that's right. we are looking at a storm system coming in. this is not an atmospheric river. we're not expecting a super strong storm. and what we're looking at right now on the satellite radar picture is this system to the south that brought some rain to southern california, central

a deadly crash on the oakland side of the san francisco bay bridge. these are live pictures here from sky fox. up above the scene, the chp tells us a motorcyclist was struck by a vehicle in the eastbound lanes of the bridge, just west of the toll plaza. it happened just after 2:00 this afternoon. the alameda county coroner is at the scene this afternoon. a second vehicle may have also hit that motorcycle rider, according to authorities, and that person did not stop after the crash. two lanes of the bridge are blocked right now because of this crash, and authorities are still trying to clear the scene here. and as we sort of shift over towards san francisco, you can see that tremendous backup here on the bay bridge in the eastbound direction as a result of this crash. obviously, you can see that backup extends for some time here. as authorities continue to investigate. we will continue following this crash here affecting traffic on the bay bridge as we move throughout the afternoon. >> it is certainly going to take some time for that to clear up. all ri

the chp is looking for a driver involved in a fatal hit and run on the bay bridge. r struck and killed a motorcyclist in the eastbound lanes friday afternoon near the toll plaza. the chp says the motorcyclist, a man in his 30s, was hit by one car and ejected off his bike. that driver remained on the scene. officers say a second car hit the man and continued driving. the chp is working to identify that driver. pope francis remains in guarded condition today following a night of rest. friday was not so easy for francis when he suffered a breathing spasm that required him to be put on a breathing machine temporarily. the 88 year old pontiff responded well with a good level of gas exchange, and remained conscious and alert at all times. francis has been hospitalized in rome for about two weeks. the vatican has made alternative plans for ash wednesday next week. >> time now is 715. we've got new details on that crash that killed three young people in piedmont last november. the chp cites driving under the influence and excessive speed as the cause. the chp report says the

so it is looking really pretty across the bay bridge right now. e're getting a little bit of some breaks in the cloud cover. and here's what you need to know for the forecast. so light rain and showers continue mainly during the morning hours. there's also high surf advisory still in effect through tomorrow. this is causing rip currents and some sneaker waves that you want to look out for. and then this week we'll still see some more periods of light rain. i'll show you that with the accuweather seven day forecast. so 7:00 this morning our futurecast shows that we could still see some showers through the north bay. and as the system continues to move east, notice by about 1:00 this afternoon we'll get some breaks in the cloud cover, some drying out, and then a few pop up showers may still show up during the evening hours, but then tomorrow morning we'll wake up to mostly dry conditions. it will be much cooler and we'll get more sunshine and also rainfall estimates. they really range. this is not a great predictor by each city, but generally most pl

this is the westside bridges retrofit to rehabilitate and reconstruct eight bridges along treasure island road connecting to the baydge and for that project we also secured a $10 million set of funds and housing incentive pool that was provided by the mtc and prioritized by the mayor's office and with our staff's support that along with about a total revenues for a local partnership program fund exchange will help to construct we hope the retaining walls that are needed to deliver and improve the roadway for the multi-use path. so the westside bridges project is about 50% complete and the hillcrest project as related there is about a third done again both on time and on budget. so thank you to our partners and also to anila for and her team for helping to work out those those funding opportunities to secure that 10 million for the retaining walls and of course i just want to add my personal things and congratulations to director kirschbaum on her appointment as mta director not only has julie have two decades of transportation experience and widely respected in the industry of course and in san francisco and the ba
