it happened on highway 24 in orinda, creating a traffic mess. sky seven saw one man forced to walk off the freeway carrying a young child, then hopping into a waiting car on surface streets. another woman walking off the freeway hauling a suitcase and drivers driving the wrong way on freeway onramps to escape the gridlock, according to the chp. no one was hurt. the 66 year old man, who was behind the wheel of the suv struck by bullets, managed to escape any serious injury. when we asked the chp about it. >> i don't believe that the person who called in was an intended target. >> abc seven stopped by the driver's home. the man was unavailable to talk, but his wife told me he's okay. a closer look at the damage done by the shots fired. it's a startling reminder that the driver is extremely lucky he wasn't killed. we showed drivers in orinda pictures of the damage. >> it was amazing. >> we don't know why. >> it happened. it's hard to believe. >> lou reginato has lived in orinda for more than five decades and drives highway 24 often. >> whenever i d

a memorial has been set up for the victims in orinda. >> good afternoon to you. four of those men had been charged with murder. the other accessory to murder and as you mentioned here's that growing memorial right behind me right in the heart of orinda. remembering the five victims but also the five that were wounded and still recovering from that halloween night. lots of flowers, photos, cards and momentos as well and this gets bigger and bigger by the day. let's take a look at the five suspects arrested yesterday. 28-year-old le brawn wallace of san mateo. jason isles out of marin city and 21-year-old devon williamson of vallejo is being held on those accessory charges. tactical units from contra costa sheriff's department rounded up all five suspects in the east bay down the peninsula in the north bay. this one was in marin city. no bail for the four murder suspects. the accessory suspect's bail set at a half a million dollars. people here in orinda say they're glad the arrests have been made but realize there is still a lot of work to be done. >> you know wha

of that halloween night shooting at the airbnb here in orinda.nd flowers, candidatals. the men and women who died on thursday night range in age from 19 to 29 years old. there are among 100 people attending what has been billed as a halloween mansion party. it was at an airbnb. just before 11:00 that night someone started shooting. the tragedy has sparked a debate here in orinda about short term rentals and whether they should be more strictly regulated to prevent illegal parties like the one where the shooting happened. >> there are a number of people that have sent e-mails and communicated that that's what they would like. there's also, you know, folks that have said, you know, this is really about gun control too. so you have a lot of different perspectives. . >> now there's no word yet on what led up to this shooting, the motive. no word on any arrests either. neighbors called to complain about the halloween party noise twice the night of that shooting. police responded about 20 minutes after that second noise complaint came in. now the polic
