i have come to support this evening luke o'brien for vice- president. for small business commission functions as the central point of information and referral. for entrepreneurs and small businesses. you need a strong team. commissioner o'brien brings a perspective and experience through the wide range of different businesses that he has been involved in and currently, in his real estate and development capacity. in addition, he works with other city initiatives, i just named a few. there is the dbi's advisory committee, the community action plan for seismic safety, he is a member of the mayor's task force of the socks story retrofit program. -- a soft story retrofit program and he worked on the permitting subcommittee where his -- he has demonstrated his vast experience of the permitting processes in dbi and in planning. as i referred earlier i do not know where he gets the time to be with his wife and his two small kids who are at school. we heard some things this evening about the 1.5 million small business revolving fund. it is exciting to know about

luke o'brien, current vice president of the small business commission. some of the points i wanted to make have already been made. supervisor campos, it is not thae first time i have heard you ask what we are doing to reach out. this isnot the -- is not the first time i've heard you made that point. i know how you feel about that. it is something that -- on the small business commission we're having an off -- active discussion about. i think henry karnilowicz will be a great candidate. the other thing i like about henry, i have had some heated debates with henry. always civilized but a different point of view. it is quite something that he has on one or two occasions convinced me of his point of view and changed my -- believe me, that is quite a feat. henry takes a pragmatic approach to problem-solving. he is not driven by ideology of any sort or prior biases. he looks at the merits of it and does not care which side -- he sticks with what he thinks make sense. it would be a fantastic edition. especially to see him appointed by the board of supervisors.

luke o'brien, coalition for responsible growth. i will start by saying first of all the i think either candidate will do a good job. as you know, i have been here many times, and i have found commissioner mar to be quite fair, reasonable, and confident and intelligent with the matter at hand. i will walk out of here comfortable with the level of candidate we have going for this position, and i think either one will do a good job. however, the decision has to be made as to who will carry the flag, so somebody has to take it, but i am comfortable that we have got two candidates. i know warren pretty well because he lives nearby, and i see walking down the street, and we bump into each other, and we are able to say hello and be cordial. i know that whatever happens today, that will continue to be the case. commissioner murphy got some kudos for the work that he has done during his tenure on the commission, and perhaps, particularly during his tenure as president, and i think he gets credited more than anybody -- probably fairly so --
