i'm in northwest washington. behind me, a tree that has fallen from the storms on friday night. impressive sight. old oak tree. we're estimating it was about 60 feet tall before it fell. it tore down several power lines with it and of course knocked out power to this entire neighborhood here in northwest washington. also closed the roadway. as of this time, no tree crews here yet. they'll have to deal with the tree first and they can start to restore power. i'm sure this is a sight we see again and again. it is warming up. it feels a little better. little less humidity than yesterday. bright and sunny day. reagan national was 82 degrees and 82 in quantico. much of the area in the 70s. just like the last couple of days, once the sun is up, the temperatures jump quickly. highs this afternoon in the mid- 90. satellite radar storms overnight pushing off to the

one of my favorite places in northwest washington. my colleague andrea roane is going to be there hosting it but i have the foundation president with me. dr. l. c. scott to talk about a voice and how it's helping to preserve history. what is this program about? >> oak, a voice -- okay, a voice is an online digital library we created in 2005 to capture the history of african- americans serving in congress. and to date we've been able to place several exhibits including exhibits on the making of the martin luther king jr. deal. if antiapartheid movement, civil rights and environmental justice. each year we try to add another exhibit and put up original documents, letters from members, letters from people to members, pictures, et cetera. the captions behind the scene and i guess the best example is the making of the martin luther king jr. deal. it took 13 years to get that deal passed and so we've captured that history there including some of the advocacy for people outside of congress. >> this is a wonderful programming the shunts to go

i'm on arcadia place in northwest washington just off western avenue. this is a tree lined neighborhood hit pretty hard by that derecho a few weeks ago, trees down all over the place. this neighborhood was hit hard by the storm that rolled in late this afternoon. a large tree behind me came down, collapsed on several power lines knocking out power to many homes in this neighborhood. also brushing a house, one house, on arcadia place. firefighters told me about seven people were evaluated for injuries. fortunately no injuries were reported. you might be able to see the tree that collapsed has a hollowed out root system which indicates it was very prone to something like this happening. essentially the root system of this tree was dead, very much like what happened to the tree yesterday in great falls that tanically killed a person there. fortunately -- tragically killed a person there. fortunately no one was killed or even hurt here, seven people evaluated for injuries, nobody taken to the hospital. nobody was hurt d.c. fire says. power will be now the t
