and the exact opposite of priceline, which is 22% domestic. matters even worse, orbitz is also more dependent on airline bookings, 35% of sales. no surprise that the latest quarter from orbitz was sloppy. they delivered a much larger than expected loss, shrinking revenues, downside guidance. if you're looking to play the online travel space, priceline.com is the only game in town. orbitz, untouchable. expedia's stagnating, priceline is still growing like a weed. i know that $712 share price looks intimidating, remember, any time you're less than 1 time time growth rate, this is extremely cheap. some hedge funds would be willing to pay 40 times earnings. just today, and also piper jaffray slapped $1,000 price target on priceline, based on the expectation the company can earn $50 a share in 2014. sounds aggressive, but you wouldn't think so if you simply divided the stock price by ten. is it so hard to think that a $71 stock could go to $100 if the company's going to earn $5 a share? it's okay to buy one share too, or use deep in the money call o

that makes you look pretty stupid versus the analysts who nailed the story. priceline us the template for an amicable divorce. who else has the raised guidance? not to be too captain obvious here, but the apple increase in earnings estimates is still propelling its stock higher. the guidance that tim cook, apple ceo gave us in the momentum of the quarter and how it did month to month to month has forced products to think -- wow! in the case with apple and the company will have faster earnings growth than the average stock in the s&p so it's pretty much impossible for it not to have a premium multiple. in english, apple deserves to cost more than the average stock because it's better than that. that's what's been going on during this whole rally. apple is simply way too cheap versus the average stock which happens to sell for 14 times earnings. i get the possibility that apple earns $50 a share which means it's only trading at ten times earnings. ten times, average stock 14 and since then, apple's stock should be -- unstoppable, despite its market cap. these trades are

the last chart say long-term chart of priceline. it puts in context where we are from the lows of' 09. this is basically up almost 10-fold. when you get to the bottom or top of a channel, you throw back the other way. so we would call this risky to be long and trim longs when we are long and in this case we would go short. >> technically apple may look like priceline and apple looks like priceline, but the story is different when it comes to valuation as well as earnings growth. >> the earnings growth thing is a situation where both are seeing exceptional earnings growth. that is the case that everybody makes for priceline. when people throw out concerns about high valuation, we are talking about a company trading 36 times full year earnings. these are rich valuations when you think a stock like chevron that pays a 3.5% dividend is rich. it mean that is everybody has to have continued faith that the 40% growth that they are sighing in a lot of market places is going to continue. the bull case tested discount europe. don't worry about

second, on the growth side of the equation, priceline is growing. ravel grows, they gain travel share. the last big plank, you have a lot of cash. billions of dollars that can be put to work for shareholders over the next couple of years. >> scott, you have a target of 785. my question here is, obviously it's going up against companies like expedia. is there anything that they can doing differently that can move them forward? >> there's no question that jake makes a number of good points and actually we agree that priceline is a good company and it's well positioned. one, is their exposure to europe where there is a big question mark in particular with the euro, if it would to decline against the dollar, that would affect priceline dramatically. when their reported q4 results last month, they talked about investing and investment. that to us means more narrow margins going forward. >> do you want to defend those arguments that scott has made? >> certainly euro is a big risk. every 5 cent is not in material, absolutely a risk. on the margin side of th

priceline is a save long. you are looking at the trade on priceline? >> i think the perspective about whether or not something is a safe long here is going to depend a little bit on the view of whether or not the market is due for a little bit of a pull back. it will be the names that let it up that are likely to lead it down on a pull back. i will agree with this that if it's growing at 35% a year and i understand the estimates are above the street, but even the street estimates if they were to realize and probably have the stock reasonably valued, it's just one of the beta spaces where if you are concerned about the pull back and the put open interest has been rising. all of those to me say how could you be foolish taking it off the table? the way i was looking at it, you could spend about $20 on these things. you realize that this is an over $7 stock. you look to spread a stock and you wanted to stick with the short. >> more "options action" and follow the show on twitter to get concentrated updates. i want to move on to materials and down greating a

the market leader. in this case, it's priceline. for expedia, we just believe that because of the quick pop in the stock, you've got valuation expansion. remember, the company didn't raise guidance for the full year. we didn't raise our estimates, so we would just maybe take profits here with the stock having squeezed up. remember, the short interest is very high, so short interest in excess of 25% heading into the last couple of sessions. so with the stock having squeezed up, maybe we'll use it as a chance to rotate into a market leader and that's all we're saying on the call this morning. >> what do you think has been driving the hotel bookings growth for expedia? i mean, priceline seems to be growing in that category faster than expedia. is that right? >> yeah, particularly in international. i mean, priceline's bookings are in the 60% to 70% range, whereas expedia's are really in the mid-teens. so europe has been an area of weakness. i think one thing where expedia is experiencing bookings growth is on pricing. they're deeply -- w
