reporter: as we first reported, preschoolers spotted mocky thursday evening on the playground here in daley city. it was a thrill for the city. >> the lemur is really cool, but i thought it was a raccoon but it's not a raccoon. >> reporter: parents called 911 sometime around 5:00 p.m. a few hours later, about 9:00 p.m., officers here got a phone call for that grocery store robbery, which led to the arrest of corey gillaway. when they found images of a lemur on his phone, it set off a lightbulb. >> one of the other officers had just visited the zoo with his family the day before and learned a lemur had been stolen. >> reporter: when he's released from jail, he will be transferred to san francisco police to face a slew of charges linked to the break-in at the zoo. and now that the lemur is back, the $2100 for his recovery will go to one of the kids who first spotted him. >> the question is, why? >>> also tonight, a microclimate weather alert in effect. conditions outside still a concern for firefighters. the wind may have slowed down, but the heat is sticking around. chief meteorologist jeff ranie
