east bay congressman eric swalwell is throwing his support behind the effort to recall alameda county district attorney pamela price. swalwell is a former alameda county deputy d.a. he held a news conference today with the families of victims of violent crimes. d.a. price, as you may remember, elected in 2022 on a platform of criminal reform and reducing incarceration. supporters of the recall argue she's been too lenient on criminals, leading to rising crime in 2023. now, crime stats for the first half of 2024 do show some crime categories have declined. but just last month, the governor announced that state prosecutors would be taking on cases of violent and organized crime in the county to speed up prosecutions. what we have right now is two defense tables in every alameda county courtroom, there's two defense tables, and there's no prosecutor. and this recall is about putting a prosecutor and accountability back into place so we all can be safe. passes campaign released a long statement saying in part, quote, swalwell support for an effort that undermines a fellow democrat and rej
