amy: moving onto washington state. likely democrat. ssica: you have the governor who is retirinunlike some other states washington doesn't have term limits. í% in washington, they have an party primary system. all the candidates will be on the august ballot and the top two candidates regardless of party will advance. the lieutenant governor -- the attorney general is a democratic front runner. there is a more moderatenning. but we expec the attorney general to place first. when the rays came open i wrote that no republican had the opportunity. they got an interesting candidate in the case, a former congressman who retired several years ago by the is also really well known there. he was the sheriff that caught the green river killer in washington state. he has a law enforcement background. i was watching forensic f day and it comes on about him. he is well-known because of thishe has more of a moderate profile and has the type of crossover roads but he was defeated for the republican endorsement at the convention. that is not uncommon. i

so washington state republicans have just gathered for their state party convention to endorse theirates for state office including governor. how did that go? >> boo, boo. >> disorder and disarray. that's why gubernatorial candidate says he no longer wants an endorsement from the gop. >> we will not be endorsing a governor at this convention. >> as you can hear, boos rang out at the spokane gop convention after the parties vice chair announced they will not be endorsing a candidate. >> it went that well, huh. this being a republican state convention in the age of republican candidates under donald trump. the event ended up with infighting and disputes and dysfunction. delegates ultimately decided to endorse the trumpiest most extreme candidate but the other candidate says he will still run in the summer's republican primary. all of that chaos was bucking all the the áf news. something slightly nuttier than that happened. they decided they would craft their public platform after dealing with the gubernatorial nomination. they decided they would add something new. as the washington sta

perez: i think that washington state has done some things that are productive and they have done some things that are going to be overturned in the courts. the second amendment is clear in our right to bear firearms. those discussions and a top-down solution i do not see as productive. there is not a pill that will fix the suicide rate in our children. the things that fix it are getting back to the kind of economy where you can raise a family. we have to rebuild the middle class. right now it feels like the middle class is an endangered species. the reason we had to build a home is because banks don't like loaning to self-employed people in the trades. we have to empower people to be able to own and build their own homes again, ease the regulatory and permitting. these issues that take away hope of economic sufficiency in young people, give them something to look forward to. so i think it is critical that we uphold the second amendment. >> your response, mr. kent? mr. kent: what is very clear is we have to uphold the second amendment. she voted to make people who may have a disability
