technology, past 100 years or so.

caves are the most obvious place
to look, but in fact they are full
of really interesting deposits
called stalagmite and stalagtites.
what we aim to do in this project
is to reconstruct long—term records

they grow up from the ground
of the cave, and they are deposited
as the drip water
drips onto the ground.
that drip water has a chemical
signature that reflects the rainfall
at the time it was going.
