that his departure would give
his family, his party
and the country a "fresh start".
mrjones said the last few
months had been difficult,
after his colleague,
carl sargeant, was found dead four
days after he had sacked him.

from lisa and the kids.
they have carried me
through the darkest of times,
i've asked too much
of them at times.
and it's time i asked

the last welsh labour conference
i address as party leader.
i intend, as i've always maintained,
to be here to give every
answer to every question,
but i intend to stand down
as your leader in the autumn,
allowing for a new first minister
to take their place
by the end of this year.
