a sensitive subject —
guaranteed to provoke debate,
and one on which borisjohnson has
made his views clear.
but his language has prompted
criticism, from his opponents,
the prime minister and other senior
conservatives who say he went too
far and should apologise.
it seems to me that what boris might
want to do now is consider
whether some of the language
that he used was inappropriate,
and if he chooses to apologise no
doubt that will be welcomed.
but i don't think we should take
from this incident that people
are prohibited from discussing this
subject — it is a perfectly
legitimate subject for debate —
