kayla tausche joins us with a
look at trade and what's been
happening.
>> reporter: good morning,
becky.
president trump's vow to rip up
trade deals touched a nerve.
they have proven harder in
practice than in theory to
implement.
on day three in office he
withdrew from the trans-pacific
partnership.
that deal had already been
rejected in congress
no such talks are in progress.
an effort with japan last fall
led to japan urging the u.s. to
rejoin t.p.p
now it's the future of the north
american deal, nafta, that is
unclear.
trump on the campaign trail left
little gray area about his views
on it.
>> i have very serious concerns
about nafta.
nafta's been a catastrophe for
our country.
if i'm unable to make a fair
deal for the united states,
meaning a fair deal for our
workers and our companies, we
will terminate nafta
personally, i don't think we can
make a deal because we have been
so badly taken advantage of.
