he was also former u.s.
ambassador to israel.
he's now at the brookings
institution.

resignation.
when you left you said there's
so much water under the bridge,
soept skepticism and so much
distrust and lack of confidence,
the difficulties we faced were
far more because of the 20 years
of distrust that built up.
are you saying this is not do

that way at moment given what
you're reporting this morning.
what we're watching is
war-making, not peace-making,
but when the dust settles and
the blood of innocence is
cleared away, palestinians and
israelis have only one solution
to their conflict which is to
solve it through peace
negotiations.
