lost limbs to land mines,
working in rwanda.
i talk about what it's like
going through navy seal training
and combat deployments overseas
in places like iraq and
afghanistan, and i also write
about the work that we do today
on the front lines here at home
working with wounded and
disabled veterans to help them
to find a way to win this battle
on their front lines so that
they can come back and continue
to serve as citizen leaders
again.
and what i've learned in all of
that work is that we all have a
front line in our life.
we all have a place in our life
where our hopes for the future
and our hopes for the people
that we love come right up
against the reality that the
world presents to us.
and i believe that in order for
us to be successful on those
front lines, it takes a
combination of courage and
compassion.
i think it takes a combination
of the heart and the fist to be
successful on those front lines.
and i'm really excited to be
here with all of you today
because one of the other...
