we are sort of in the same boat.
i have been writing about lyndon
johnson so long sometimes people
ask me don't you get bored?
the answer is the very opposite
is true.
i don't think of these books as
being about lyndon johnson just
like a power broker was not
about robert moses.
just to tell the life of a
famous man from the moment i
first thought about doing books
i thought of biographies, i
thought of biographies as a way
of examining the great forces
that shaped the times they lived
in and particularly political
power.
why is political power so
important?
we live in a democracy.
we have the power of the votes
we cast that ballot boxes and
the more we know about political
power really works not as it is
